Serenity Under 95, 2025, oil on panel, 12 x 16". I recently discovered that the narrow strip park running along Front Street for several blocks above Washington Avenue in the shadow of Interstate 95 is called Serenity Park. I'm not sure how serene it is with all that traffic rushing by just overhead, but it's still nice. This view looks down Christian Street towards the Delaware River.

Natural Bridge, 2004, watercolor, 24 x 18". This was my earliest watercolor that I liked enough to exhibit. I haven't done so for a number of years though because the frame I had it in had collected too many dings and scratches to overlook. Because I've had an increased number of sales this year, I set aside some funds to reframe some older pieces. This is the first.

I recently completed Tidal Basin Blues, a series of drawings that I began working on in 2021 as a rainy day/winter project. On a walk around the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. one afternoon, I observed how historical monumental sculptures had a distinct visual language even among works that had been completed over an extended period of time. I then began comparing that to the language of the jazz iconography I often worked with in my job as a music librarian, and the idea of creating these mash-ups was born.

I am happy to announce that my oil painting, "River Room" has won the 2nd place award in Bly-Ransley Founders' Open Exhibition of the Burlington County Art Guild. The last time I entered this show was in 2014, the year before I moved to Washington, D.C., when I was an officer in the Guild. Part of the very generous award package was a $150 Wegman's gift card, which was spent immediately following the awards ceremony, covering about 60% of a shopping cart of groceries. The exhibit will be on display at The Dr. David Flinker Pavilion Art Gallery, Virtua Memorial Hospital, Mt. Holly, NJ through Sept. 27, 2025.
