Drea Young is a Grammy-winning producer, engineer, DJ, and creative force behind Nice Rack LLC and the MUSIC IS OUR HERO! With a career spanning recording studios, live events, and independent music ventures, Young has dedicated herself to elevating artists, producing groundbreaking music, and energizing audiences with her unique blend of technical mastery and creative vision. A graduate of the Ar
t Institute of Philadelphia with a degree in graphic design, Young launched her career at Electric Factory Concerts, creating promotional campaigns for iconic artists including Grateful Dead, Gorillaz, Britney Spears, Eminem, and Dave Matthews Band. She later honed her craft at Full Sail University in recording arts and moved to Manhattan to work at Area 51 NYC, where mentorship under industry legends like Brian McKenna and Tony Drootin propelled her to lead engineer. By 2010, Young earned her first Grammy LP credit with Esperanza Spalding (“Best New Artist”), followed by a second Grammy for Adams: Doctor Atomic (“Best Opera Recording”) and a Latin Grammy nomination for Yeahwon Shin. She has collaborated with music icons including Beyoncé, Bjork, Justin Timberlake, Avishai Cohen, and Lucie Arnaz, as well as engineering and producing luminaries such as Joe Ferla, Steve Epstein, and Rob Fusari. In 2015, Young founded Nice Rack LLC, an independent entertainment company that has signed emerging artists, produced dozens of tracks, and hosted successful concerts in Philadelphia. Partnering with drummer and producer Keith Moffett in 2016, they launched savage_machine productions (s_mp), creating music for games, apps, artists, and video projects. Stepping into the spotlight in 2017 under her DJ moniker da_BooBoo, Young transformed her deep studio expertise into electrifying live performances. Over time, she began DJ’ing weekly for karaoke, dance parties, and Philly Drag Mafia, while growing her branded events, including BooBoo’s Babes and The Monday Night Meetup. Partnering with Drowning Fish Studio, Young continues to build Philadelphia’s indie music scene while producing authentic records and content that inspire audiences.
