I got to bed last night about midnight still wound pretty tight from working in the shop and not really sleepy

My doctor says i dont get into REM sleep where you have dreams

Last night was the exception

I dreamed I was driving in the Daytona 500 with my 1973 big body grand prix with its wore out Pontiac 350 that the only improvement to it was it had 150,000 miles of grease pressure washed off with an oil change, fresh plugs and wires

I was starting dead last and as we go down the back stretch on lap one they dropped the green flag and by the time i get up to speed I’m almost a half lap down … i went on to 2 laps down and the SOMEHOW … the race in my dreams morphed to Brad Dixon s Super Tex 600
In Paris, Texas Rocket Raceway Park

Now my old Grand Prix I modified with a boom from a skid steer that allowed me to push down on the roofs of faster cars that blow by me and allows me to slingshot past … I put pool noodles on the boom to keep me from scratching the roofs of the cars I was drafting off of…
Soon i was passing cars like crazy
I blew by Howard Willis like his car was out of gear

Soon i was 6 and 1/2 laps ahead of second place so I pulled in to use the restroom and get a half dozen grilled shrimp to snack on

I have been shooting staples at cars as i would pass them for no apparent reason

Now as I’m racing for the first time in 40 years and its driving Zack Clark nuts as he has no stats on me since the last time I raced was before he was born … Caleb McFarland and Chase Lollar were having a blast calling this event on Race On absolutely astonished by my driving skills

Brads wife Heather told me she had no idea of my driving skills and asked why I no longer race

Kenny Montgomery and Nathen Renfro were in the grandstands with a notepad working on a new song about me and my big body yellow #59 grandprix and how impressed they were

As I pull back on the track from my pit stop and shrimp snack I run out of staples and my motor locks up

I wake up at 4:17am to go use the restroom and that is the end of the dream cause we all know you’ll never go back to that dream again

So no idea who won
KMO chunked his notepad as he wasn’t wasting any more time on me
Howard Willis blew by me
My announcer friends are silent
But at least those 1/2 dozen grilled shrimp were really good
That was THE END

I don’t drink or use drugs but this was one crazy trip

Im ready to head back to the press box and talk about 100 cars on a dirt track at one time with no cautions and a wrecker to clean up the mess so we don’t have cautions on the first weekend of October for the Super Tex 600
