Have you visited the Tiny Stories Telephone Booth yet?

Now through July 21, you’ll find it just outside Roy’s Market in Peterborough—a little booth filled with art, imagination, and unexpected moments of connection.

Flip through the phonebook, choose a work of art, dial its number, and listen to a tiny story written and recorded by members of the Firelight community. Then, if inspiration strikes, stay awhile. Write your own 100-word story, create a drawing, or simply take a moment to listen.

This year’s season theme is Listening, and we hope this small experience invites you to slow down, notice the world around you, and discover the stories waiting to be heard.

The Tiny Stories Telephone Booth is free, open to everyone, and waiting for you outside Roy’s Market through July 21. We can’t wait to hear what you discover.

What an amazing beginning to our Tiny Stories event!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Saturday’s opening celebration and helped bring this whimsical project to life. It was a delight to see people listening, creating, writing, drawing, and sharing stories together.

Created in collaboration with MaxT Makerspace, the Tiny Stories Telephone Booth is now open outside Roy’s Market in Peterborough through July 21. Inside, you’ll find a phonebook of artworks paired with phone numbers. Dial a number, and you’ll hear a tiny story—written and recorded by members of the Firelight community—inspired by that image. You’ll also find art supplies and writing materials, inviting you to add your own response to the collection.

Inspired by our season theme, Listening, Tiny Stories asks us to slow down and listen for the stories hidden in the world around us.

The opening weekend was full of curiosity, creativity, and connection, and we hope you’ll stop by and experience the booth for yourself. Visit once or many times—there are always more stories waiting to be heard.

The Tiny Stories Telephone Booth will be outside Roy’s Market through July 21. We can’t wait to hear what you discover.

Firelight Theatre Workshop will bring an interactive telephone booth to downtown Peterborough this summer as part of its annual Tiny Stories community arts project.

From June 21 through July 21, a telephone booth installed outside Roy’s Market will allow visitors to listen to original stories inspired by artwork. The project, created in collaboration with MAXT Makerspace, features a telephone and a phonebook of artwork with corresponding phone numbers. By dialing a number, visitors can hear a story of fewer than 100 words written and recorded by members of the Firelight community.

The booth will also include writing and art supplies for visitors to create their own responses to the artwork.

An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, from 1 to 3 p.m., with opportunities for the public to experience the installation and participate in art-making activities. - Monadnock Ledger-Transcript

OPENING SUNDAY!

TINY STORIES is one of our favorite endeavors, and it’s been an anchor in our season from the beginning. We’ve met writers, performers, and artists with a wide range of experiences. We’ve performed in dozens of non-traditional spaces. We’ve engaged performers from ages 6 to 81.
TINY STORIES is always written + performed by you.
Firelight Artistic Associate Jazimina Creamer-MacNeil directs TINY STORIES 7, and we are proud to collaborate with beloved Peterborough mainstays Roy’s Market and MAXT Makerspace for this year’s installment.
In keeping with our season’s theme of LISTENING, we invited you to listen for the story in an artwork that you love.
We will share the stories as part of a LISTENING art installation, starting as a drop-in event on Sunday, June 21 @ 1-3pm.
The listening experience — a public telephone booth with stories on the line — is open to the public outside of Roy’s Market (20 Main St., Peterborough, NH) anytime through July 21.
TINY STORIES operates on the premise that a quick artistic process yields powerful creative work.
Now we listen.

Supporting local theatre means investing in creativity, connection, and the cultural life of our communities.

Organizations like Firelight Theatre Workshop bring people together through bold storytelling, artistic collaboration, and meaningful shared experiences. Local theatre creates opportunities for artists to grow, audiences to engage with new ideas, and community members to connect in ways that are increasingly rare and valuable.

When you support local theatre—whether by attending performances, volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word—you help ensure that the arts remain accessible and vibrant for everyone. Your support strengthens not only individual productions but also the creative ecosystem that enriches the Monadnock Region.

There are two hours left in this year’s NH Gives. Please consider donating to a theatre program.
