2nd Wednesday of every month! December 9th is The GrandSlam-Mystic It's called a Story Slam!

West Side Stories believes that everyone has a story. Our goal is to give those stories a forum. And to encourage those who doubted they had a story worth telling. Sonoma Valley Portworks provides a stage and a microphone, a theme to inspire and shape the evening, a lively and supportive audience, and Dave Pokorny to host and guide the festivities. West Side Stories are limited to five minutes, an

d ten stories are heard. The stories are scored by a random audience-member, and a winner is announced who wins $50 cash! Come see what it's all about. Here are the upcoming dates and themes:

Welcome to the finals Bradford Rex! Our theme for July was Money Talks-Coaching swim his first summer out of high school, he borrowed his dad's nicer car to take a lifeguard to a Phillies game and scored a construction sponsor's box seats — but at a stoplight, she spotted a Corvette next to them, said "that's a car I'd like to ride in," and he actually got out and let her go. Susan never made it to the game, but he kept using that VIP pass solo until he wasn't welcome any longer — proving his dad right-that you shouldn't shop for a Cadillac on a Buick budget. This past Wednesday we had out first Back to Back winner of the year...Beth Kraft! Want to join her in the GrandSlam? Your next chance is July 8th and our theme is Money Talks! For tickets https://ci.ovationtix.com/36153 This month our theme was If It Ain't Broke...her story was about her childhood birthdays that were simple—with eleven kids, it was ice cream with a candle and a song. As a mom she went all out, deciding one year to make everything herself, homemade cake (held together with dowels). The piñata was still wet, so she baked it—when she tried to cut a hole it just dented it. So no candy inside, the family threw it over the top-the piñata kept swallowing the stick. Don't mess with what isn't broken.

Come drop your name in the hat to tell or just come and enjoy tales from your neighbors! At the end of the show the entire audience can vote for their favorite. That person receives a $50 dollar cash prize, their story & picture in The Argus Courier and an invite to our year end GrandSlam on the big stage of The Mystic Theater! Beth Kraft is in! In the GrandSlam this December! She was chosen your favorite teller for May with a whopping 63% of the audience vote! Her story was about the time she married Eddie Step at age 8 — an arranged ceremony officiated by her brother, complete with a reluctant kiss, a honeymoon loop around the house, and a crowd of kids chanting before Mrs. VanDym shut the whole thing down. The votes came in and your favorite teller for April is...Austin Murphy!
His story pays tribute to his mom Patricia Murphy — the true hero behind 8 kids, 18 sports, and a running tab with the ER doctors — a fiercely un-helicopter parent who gave her children free rein, let them fight their own battles, and earned their gratitude and apologies in equal measure.
