What a memorable opening night of our recital season!
During intermission this evening, an unexpected system malfunction triggered the fire alarm. While it certainly wasn't part of the performance, it gave us an opportunity to witness something truly remarkable.
To our incredible dance parents: thank you. Your calm, quick actions ensured that every dancer was evacuated safely and efficiently. The care, composure, and teamwork you demonstrated made us incredibly proud to be part of this Ballet Arts of Peru family. We are deeply grateful for each of you.
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Peru Fire Department and the Miami County Sheriff's Office Peru, IN for their immediate response. Your professionalism, efficiency, and support allowed the issue to be quickly resolved and helped us return to the stage with minimal interruption. We are fortunate to have such dedicated first responders serving our community.
And to all of our guests and audience members: thank you for your patience and cooperation. Everyone exited calmly and orderly, and your positive attitude throughout the situation was truly appreciated.
As we joked afterward, "We told everyone the show was going to be fire... apparently the building took us a little too seriously."
In all seriousness, tonight reminded us that beyond the costumes, choreography, and performances, Ballet Arts of Peru is a community. We are grateful for every parent, dancer, volunteer, audience member, and first responder who helped make sure everyone remained safe.
Now, back to dancing. See you tomorrow! 🩷🩰
