Public Statement Regarding Bicycles, E-Bikes, Scooters, and Similar Mobility Devices. Policy Update effective: September 1st, 2026
For the safety of our guests, exhibitors, livestock, staff, vendors, and event participants, bicycles, e-bikes, scooters, and other similar personal mobility devices are not permitted on the grounds of the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter.
This policy is a site-safety measure based on the unique environment and operations of our facility. The Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter is a large, active agricultural and event complex where conditions can change significantly depending on the event and activity taking place. Over time, we have experienced incidents involving personal injury and damage to personal property associated with mobility devices.
The grounds are not designed or maintained as a dedicated bicycle or scooter transportation network. Roadways and pedestrian areas include a combination of uneven gravel, asphalt, grass, and other surfaces. Changes in the landscape, temporary event structures, parked vehicles, equipment, and other site features can also create blind spots and reduce visibility.
In addition, the facility routinely hosts livestock and equine events. This means large trucks, trailers, livestock haulers, agricultural equipment, and other substantial vehicles must regularly navigate the grounds. Operators of these vehicles may have limited visibility, particularly around turns, intersections, trailers, and changes in elevation. Individuals traveling on bicycles, e-bikes, scooters, or similar devices can be difficult to see and may be at increased risk of being struck or involved in a collision.
Our priority is to provide a safe environment for everyone who visits and works at the Fairgrounds. Restricting these mobility devices helps reduce conflicts between pedestrians, mobility-device users, livestock, and large vehicles and equipment in an environment that was not designed for their shared use.
We understand that bicycles, e-bikes, scooters, and similar devices can be convenient forms of transportation. However, given the physical characteristics of our grounds, the nature of our operations, and our experience with safety incidents, we believe this restriction is necessary to protect the public and preserve a safe environment for all Fairgrounds users.
