Tomorrow, May 22, is the final SRC of the season!
We'll be completing the Henry VI series with Part III.
You do not need to read Henry VI Part I or Part II to jump in. From what we hear, it is better than Godfather III in terms of ends of trilogies!
AND, these plays are prequels to Richard III. See how much there is to learn?
As always, Shakespeare Reading Club is free for all! Come on over 🤝

Henry VI (Part III)
May 22
Reading Starts 7:15 p.m.
Doors Open 6:30 p.m.

It’s a very special Shakespeare Reading Club as we kick off Shake’s summer season! Let’s read Comedy of Errors and celebrate the upcoming Shake on the Lake tour of this zany comedy.
Beneath the hilarity, the play explores timeless themes of belonging, finding your place in the world, and the power of togetherness.
Enjoy snacks, tour highlights, and (of course) lots of silly voices. See you there!

In honor of William Shakespeare's 🍰birthday🍰, we're thrilled to announce this year's summer production: The Comedy of Errors!

In 2013, The Comedy of Errors was the first full-length Shakespeare production Shake ever staged, becoming the blueprint for the company's fast, fun, and physical style, where 5 actors play 15 parts in a slapstick farce of mistaken identity and shenanigans. Set in the port town of Ephesus, The Comedy of Errors tells the story of two sets of identical twins who were accidentally separated at birth. Antipholus of Syracuse and his butler, Dromio of Syracuse, arrive at Ephesus, which, unknown to them, turns out to be the home of their twin brothers, Antipholus of Ephesus and his butler, Dromio of Ephesus. When the Syracusans encounter the friends and families of their twins, a series of wild mishaps based on mistaken identities lead to wrongful beatings, a near-seduction, the arrest of Antipholus of Ephesus, and false accusations of infidelity, theft, madness, and demonic possession.

Lucky number 13 years later, Shake is restaging CoE using the tropes of commedia clowning, slapstick physical comedy, punnery, and puppetry; taking you on wild, fast-paced romp that proves why the play's title has become an idiom for "an event or series of events made ridiculous by the number of errors that were made throughout."

Watch this space for cast announcements (featuring returning Shake faves) and our Arkansas and Western NY tour dates!

The Nameless Club is a first-person, open-mic, storytelling and literary sharing event around a theme, open to the community!

William Pryor Letchworth, the namesake of Letchworth St. Park, spent as much time as he could at his beloved Glen Iris (currently the site of the Glen Iris Inn). He was often joined by a wide range of family and friends, among them were the members of the “Nameless Club”, a group of WNY-ers who delighted in sharing art and literature.

In this spirit, we invite you to
come share a 5-ish minute personal story, or just come for the stories of your neighbors!

Our theme for April 25 is GUILTY PLEASURES. Tickets are available at the door and right here:

Did you know that Shake has Shakespeare Reading Club? On the second and fourth Fridays of the month (Sept to May) we read Shakespeare’s plays. We use a random number generator to help us choose (or we have an artist who is adapting a play workshop with us). We bring the copies, we assign roles, we make tea and we read! It’s Shakespeare that requires no homework!
