Fiber Flurry Fiber Arts Festival

Fiber Flurry Fiber Arts Festival A annual day of fiber education, resources and art by the Arts Council for Wyoming County.

An entire day of learning, resources and community for fiber, the newly expanded. This year’s festival will include an expanded workshop schedule, a fiber arts forum and, for the first time, a juried arts exhibition curated around the council's 2024 theme of "Different," and a skein competition. This year's keynote: Tammy White, A Wing and a Prayer Farm, on her natural dye and climate change collaboration with Cecilia Vacuna at The Guggenheim.

Missing Fiber Flurry? Us too! Enjoy some shots of our Saturday morning Weave Sessions with Tami Fuller of Blubird Studio: Arts Council for Wyoming County Director Krysta Linnea Aina and local artists learned the Basics while returning students took on Clasped Weft, an advanced novice weaving technique that forces students to negotiate tension and drill down on managing selvedge. We loved this class!

What weaving classes would you like to see at next year's Fiber Flurry?

We have a running joke about the "Sue Swanson Show" here at council. All in good fun, but in all seriousness, while Sue truly is the best of the best, we were so happy to see this year's competitors really bringing solid challenges - to see the wide breadth of entries shows that this little competition is starting to get some teeth! We know the rest of you out there have something to bring to the ring, and WE WANT IT.

Thank you to our Judge and photographer Tami Fuller ! • For more information and how to register work in future Fiber Flurry contests, subscribe to the FF mailing list on artswyco.org.

Get your needles and hooks ready and start planning: entries for 2027 will open before you know it! Watch our socials and artswyco.org for December, and happy creating! Congrats again, winners! See you next year!

Hungry for sunshine and greenery? Us too! You could say we were....dyeing for it.

After a beautiful natural dye workshop yesterday, Crown Hill Farm is here set up with natural dyed yarns from her flock in Eden, NY. Exclusively hand dyed and small mill processed, Missy's single flock origin yarns cover the entire natural dye spectrum.

She's even brought the holy grail - started INDIGO seedlings for your own spring dye garden. There a limited number of these, so come down to Fiber Flurry and get them while they're here!

Doors for Day 2 open at 10 a.m. Here until 3 at Council for Wyoming County!
