About Dead.Lem
Dead Lemon Society is born out of a hope for fostering a fresh creative community in the Greater Philadelphia Area. It exists to provide a contemporary space for burgeoning artists to develop new creative relationships and ideas. A major goal for each event hosted by Dead.Lem is to strive to present not just visual art, but performance and musical acts; blending different art forms together to speak to a single idea.
This collective is operated by co-founders LiAnn Natter and Kelly Schultz, who have a strong focus on providing representation for young creatives, particularly focusing on female artists, to expand upon and bring the messthetics and woman-friendly art culture that has flourished in Philadelphia out in to the surrounding suburban and rural areas of Pennsylvania.
The group believes that by showcasing work in alternative spaces, it can become more accessible to those both within and outside the arts community. Effectively, taking the gallery out of the gallery, can be a means to further the reach of works.
