🤔 Want to learn something new but don’t know where to start? Start at the beginning! At 7th Street Studios of course! Whether you’re brand new at art making or looking to get back into exploring your creative side, foundation classes are designed to provide the essential steps in an easy-to-approach style to get you building skills that can last a lifetime.

Not only are you learning a new art process like drawing, oil painting, figure drawing or printmaking, you’re also learning how to see the world around you differently. Don’t be surprised if you start to move more slowly through daily life as you appreciate flowers, bottles, fruit, landscapes and more on a more special level.

As kids headed back to school today, I found a quiet moment to reflect on our summer art camps at the studio.

It’s back! Figure Drawing from the Live Model starts up again for the Fall season on Sun, Sept 13 from 1-4pm at the studio!

➡️ Enjoy the challenge of working from the model during timed poses. Figure drawing is simply one of the best ways to keep your eye and drawing skills sharp. No instruction, but you’ll be working alongside dedicated artists from a variety of art fields.

🎨 This studio is designed for participants 18 and older. Please bring your drawing materials of choice; easels (11), drawing horses (5) and drawing boards (10) are available for use on a first come, first served basis.

👋 NEW sessions of Monday night ART CLUB for ‘tweens and teens ages 10-14 start soon!

📚 This session of Art Club will focus on the importance of sketchbooks!

From doodles to sketches to journaling, discover engaging and confidence-building ways to get ideas out of your head and onto the blank pages of your sketchbook.

We’ll draw basic forms, botanicals, still life set-ups, from imagination and more. Through drawing prompts, exercises, experimentation and a look to other artists, we’ll explore design, creative thinking, sketching and mark making with pencil, colored pencil, markers, collage, paint, stamping and more.

We’ll draw ideas for final pieces of art from several sketchbook ideas. Designed for all skill levels. Sketchbook will be provided at first class.

🎉 We now have access to an etching/lithography combo press in the studio and are able to offer printmkaing classes! More to come, including Open Studio time…but first:

Fridays, Oct 30-Dec 11 • 6-8:30pm

Designed for Beginners to Intermediate; Ages 16–Adult • Instructor: Cassaundra Flor

Discover the exciting world of printmaking in this beginner-friendly course! Printmaking is the process of creating an image from a carved, textured, or inked matrix that can be used to produce multiple prints. Explore a variety of techniques, including linocut, collograph, monotype, and more. Learn the fundamentals of each process while experimenting with texture, composition, carving, inking, and printing. Whether you’re completely new to printmaking or looking to expand your artistic skills, this course provides a fun and supportive introduction to this versatile art form. Seats are limited to 12.

Oh boy, are these the days!?! 🥰

125+ faces have been drawn in by summer campers so far, and we just wrapped up week 6 (camps #11, #12 & #13) of 8 (17 camps in total)! Always, always, always so great to see returning faces and meeting a slew of fabulous new ones!

🎨 Can’t even begin to count how many friendships I’ve personally watched blossom and phone numbers exchanged. And talk about the art! So many amazing pieces of art have emerged from blank sheets of paper and blobs of clay. So grateful for all of the families that have spent time at the studio this summer so far. There’s more to come and looking forward to continue to create memorable experiences!

Up next at the studio — THIS SUNDAY, challenge your creative self by portrait and figure drawing from the live model!

Our non-instructional portrait and figure drawing (or painting if you prefer) sessions provide a welcoming atmosphere for all levels to create, learn and connect. Whether you are new or experienced, enjoy the challenge of working from the live model. The session monitor will assist in guiding the model in a long format pose. This studio is designed for participants 18 and older.

Please bring your drawing or painting materials of choice; easels (12), drawing horses (5) and drawing boards (10) are available for use on a first come, first served basis.

Portrait & Figure sessions are offered twice each month (2nd and 4th Sundays) from June–August. All sessions are held on Sundays from 12–3pm; studio doors open at 11:40pm. SESSION LIMIT: 12
