🌅 "In Loving Memory"
If I was helping my dad with a project, he would always say, “Hey, we're not building a church.” Meaning, it doesn’t have to be perfect. The problem with that was, he really DID want it to be perfect. It was just his way in everything he did. As a cement contractor and custom home builder back before my time and then in my youth, the most important part was that the foundation needed to be perfect, otherwise everything else would be off. He carried that into his world of amusement park owner and then manufacturer of our Water Wars attractions. Our European distributor always said our products had to be “Woogified” before bringing them to market. We lost him and mom recently, they went 5 weeks apart. Mom passed on February 5th and dad on March 13th. Honestly, I wasn’t even sure how I could tell all of you this…but I knew I had to. They loved people, and always said how blessed we were to have such amazing customers and friends in the industry. The trade shows were always a highlight for dad as so many of you would come just to say hi, visit, and talk about your families and whatever else was new and exciting. Officially, dad retired in 2013 but he still came to work every day until just a couple years ago. I miss him so very much. But I know he is proud, but he could only be proud because of all of you. Your support, feedback, and encouragement to us over these last 3+ decades has been so valued and appreciated. I’m grateful I’ve been able to grow up working for him, even if it was frustrating at times! A few things I learned: never put your hands in your pockets, never sit down (you could always be pushing a broom if you can’t find something to do), you have to give if you want to get, and if you want to be on time, arrive ahead of time. Even if he has shoes I’ll never fill, I’m grateful to have learned from someone who always put others first and made honesty and quality his trademarks.
