Fun Fact...Saturday?

Technology decided to delay the post, but here is our September Fun Fact Friday!

Where interpreters are placed varies based on the theatre and the show. The interpreting team will collaborate with the theatre staff to work out the best position that allows a comfortable view of both the interpreters and the stage. Most commonly, the team has been placed sitting on the edge of the stage, standing beside, on the stage, or in front of the stage.

Fun Fact Friday: Prep time

LOTS of work happens behind the scenes for one interpreted show. Between team collaboration meetings, previews, stumble-throughs, and individual preparation, our interpreters average 25 hours of prep time. That number can go even over 40 hours on a challenging show such as last season's Angels in America.

[ID: An image on a gray background. Text reads the same as the caption above. The photo is a selfie of Iliana, Cameron, and Jonathan with their ipad ready for a stumble-through for Angels in America.]

Theatrical interpreting is a fantastic way for Provisional ASL Interpreters to build their skills. Teams provide built-in mentors and collaboration, scripts provide new vocabulary and concepts, and performances provide new challenges.

Apply to join our team at ASLImpact.org/support!
