How to prepare for your fantasy portrait shoot👇🏻
1. Choosing the right outfit🧝🏼‍♂️🧚🏿‍♀️
While there is absolutely no wrong choice between a queen’s ballgown or the more practical garments of an elven rogue, what sort of vibes do you want to give off? What small details and bits of lore can be included with meaningful accessories? Consider also the practical elements like posing, weather and terrain. For example, a large skirt like the one on Dame Elwing’s gown is great for hiding warm leggings and waterproof boots for climbing through creek beds and woods.
2. Props, props, props!⚔️
It’s perfectly normal to feel nervous before and even during your shoot, especially if you’re not often in front of the camera. I have found over and over again that my clients feel much more comfortable when they know what to do with their hands, and even more so when they have an interactive element like a prop. Swords, books, candle-lit lanterns, bows, and more (maybe even your partner for a couples shoot?) offer an awesome range of posing ideas, storytelling elements, and easy ways to make you feel more confident.
3. Share your ideas ✨
In the days and weeks leading up to your shoot, I’ll be checking in to learn more about the vision you wish to bring to life. As I learn more about your hopes, I’ll craft a list of poses and ideas so we can make the best images possible. During this time, if you have any ideas that seem a little crazy or too “out there,” you are always welcome to bring them to me. Have a Reel you saved, a million screenshots, or an overflowing Pinterest board? I want to see it! Every little bit of collaboration means we are that much closer to the most epic images of YOU.
I’m already excited for your session, and I can’t wait to hear from you.
