Today we had a Farewell luncheon to say goodbye to Pensacola Sound Chorus. The last few years have been a real struggle for many reasons and the few of us that were left were tired. We finally made the decision that it was time.

We had as many former members as could make it come to eat with us and celebrate the life of the chorus. It was good to see everyone and good to sing together one last time.

We want to say congratulations to member Jackie McElligott! She just earned her wings in the Coast Guard. Unfortunately, this means she has orders to move elsewhere but she is excited to find a chorus in her new city so some other chorus is going to get her awesome voice to add to their chorus!

Congrats, Jackie, and enjoy your new location and chorus! We will miss you but we’re so excited for you!

We forgot to announce our new certified directors when they happened.

Our directing team of 4 used the last year to study the Directing Certification Program. There are 10 modules that span from music theory to vocal production to teaching a song and the last thing is submitting a video of the candidate directing a 2-song package. Tara Smith became a certified director in September 2021 and Patsy Folsom became a certified director in October 2021.

We are so proud of the work they both put into this achievement! They, along with Pam Greuling and Penny Francisco, are working hard to lead this chorus to rebuild and become bigger and better than ever.

If you like to sing and want to come join the fun, come to a rehearsal! We rehearse on Tuesday nights at 6:30-8:30, Heights Baptist Church, 600 Pickens Ave in Pensacola.
