Pensacola homeschool families—you don’t have to piece together every part of your child’s education on your own. đŸ€Ž

There are places here where your kids can work with clay, learn to sew, carve wood, weave, make music, paint, listen to poetry, explore nature, and learn from local artists and craftspeople.

Grow Creative exists to be one of those places.

A Saturday morning well spent. đŸȘ”

Yesterday we gathered around the table with Pete Davidson to learn the basics of whittling—and slowly turn simple blocks of wood into a flock of little birds (or bird like shapes 😆)

This is what we love about our Slow Craft workshops for adults: learning a traditional skill, making something with your own hands, and getting a few hours to simply focus on the work in front of you.

Thank you to Pete for sharing his craft with us and to everyone who came to carve!

And judging by the response to this one
 we may need another whittling workshop. 👀

Homeschooling doesn’t have to mean doing every beautiful thing yourself. đŸ€Ž

Sometimes the weaving, woodworking, pottery, music, poetry, painting, handwork—and the people who know how to teach them—can come from your community.

That’s a big part of what I hope Grow Creative can be for Pensacola homeschool families: a place where children can learn alongside artists and makers, work with their hands, encounter beautiful things, and make friends along the way.

You get to keep the parts of homeschooling you love. We’ll help with some of the rest. 🌿

A gathering for people who love working with fiber. đŸ§¶
Join us at Grow Creative for a relaxed afternoon of making, sharing, and spending time with other fiber folks. Bring whatever you’re working on—knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving, embroidery, mending, or something else entirely—and a little show & tell to share with the group if you’d like.
No lesson and no need to be an expert. Just bring your project, pull up a chair, and spend a couple of hours making in good company.

A little peek inside our most recent Wild Oak class with Meg of Jeff & Meg Stacy 🌿
We spent the afternoon learning how color can be gathered from the natural world—making watercolor paints from plants and then putting those beautiful, earthy colors to paper.
I love the way an art lesson can open the door to so much more: noticing what grows around us, understanding where our materials come from, and seeing familiar plants in a completely new way.
This is the kind of learning we love at Grow Creative—hands-on, connected to place, and full of wonder.
