SynThesis BFA Exit Exhibition at the Pensacola Museum of Art, featuring my piece All This Talk of Wings! This is a piece I've been developing over the course of the last two semesters, as my graduating thesis work. It will be on display at the PMA from April 17th - May 10th.
All This Talk of Wings is a ceramics and mixed media sculpture with an airbrushed finish. The piece reimagines a natural history display within a fictional world where flight no longer exists. Inspired by the lyric, "What good is all this talk of wings when there is nothing left above?", the installation considers the role of preservation, memory, and loss within systems of display. The installation functions as an ironic response to the lyric, suggesting that documentation and reflection-whether rooted in reality or fiction-remain meaningful even in the absence of what once was.
