The Looking Glass The image is in the reflection, which is captured by the subjects themselves, using a remote trigger.

The Looking Glass is an interactive, self-portrait photo booth that puts the subjects in complete control of creating their own images, from setting up the shot to taking the picture. Inspired by the Self-Portrait Project, The Looking Glass was designed around the same concept, a large, two-way mirror with the camera set up on the transparent side. In the words of Andy Lin, creator of the Self-Portrait Project, “In the simple act of letting the model be photographer, the dynamic of the photo changes – as does the energy – and therefore the final image.”

The mission of both the Looking Glass and the Self-Portrait Project is to empower people in the creation of their own images. Booths such as these provide an atmosphere that stimulates creativity and promotes uninhibited expression. Uninfluenced by the presence and direction of a third party photographer, the resulting images capture moments in time, creating a visual record of memories that may have otherwise gone undocumented.
