Penn Borough extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited the Big Boy Car Show and Trackside Event yesterday. We especially want to recognize the cruisers who brought their vehicles to the show. While much of the excitement centered around the passing of the locomotive, it was your classic and custom vehicles that allowed spectators to admire, remember, and reconnect with the past as they awaited Bigboy4014. We also share our sincere appreciation to Mayor Jamie Grant & Council, Penn Borough Police Department, Penn Township Ambulance Association, Penn Boro Volunteer Fire Department, Dead Head Winery, Kona Ice of Westmoreland, L & I 's, Penn Rod & Gun, DJ Paul Callas, and volunteers: Tim & Ben Jumper, Blake Dreistadt, Lydia Grant, Betty & Jimmy Minerva, Jason Fait and Jennifer Hynes‑McCutcheon.
For our residents and visitors, yesterday offered something truly special — a few hours of unity. Neighbors, co‑workers, and even distant relatives had the chance to meet face‑to‑face, share stories, and enjoy a moment of community togetherness. The kindness, cooperation, and consideration shown by everyone who came out to celebrate these symbols of American heritage made the day unforgettable.

Today is the BIG DAY! 🚂💨 Big Boy, the world's largest operating steam locomotive, is officially rolling through our towns!

We are thrilled to witness this incredible piece of history. However, as a proud partner of the "See Tracks? Think Train!" program, our mission is to make sure everyone enjoys these historic locomotives— like Living Legend No. 844 and Big Boy No. 4014 — safely.

Please review these critical safety guidelines before heading out to see the train today:

📏 Stand Back: The average train overhangs the track by at least 3 feet (often more!). You must stand back at least 25 feet from the tracks to avoid flying debris, hot steam, or being struck.
🛑 Physics Matter: Trains cannot stop quickly to avoid people or vehicles, and their speed and distance are often deceiving.
🚫 No Trespassing: Railroad tracks, trestles, yards, and rights-of-way are private property. Never assume tracks are abandoned—ALWAYS expect a train!
🚁 Drone Safety: Keep all drones at least 25 feet away from the tracks and follow all FAA regulations.
🎧 Protect Your Ears: Steam locomotives are loud! Hearing protection is highly recommended.

Let’s make today a memorable and safe experience for our community. Have fun, take amazing photos, and please stay off the tracks! 📸🛤️

DeLallo Penn Plant.

After clearing from assisting Hempfield Fire Department, Engines 94‑1 & 94‑2 were dispatched to Delallo Penn Warehouse for an automatic fire alarm activation.

Upon arrival, the plant was fully evacuated while firefighters investigated the source of the alarm. Crews confirmed no fire or hazards present, and all units cleared after determining a false activation.

Thank you to the employees for their quick evacuation and cooperation.
