Another successful visit to Alfred University to see their BFA senior shows!

Our art students are learning about the art and life of Andy Goldsworthy, an environmental artist from Scotland who only uses natural materials in his work. We watched the documentary "Rivers and Tides" and brainstormed ways to create our own environmental art installation on campus here at PYA.

This time of year - and in these highly digital times - it's so important to get outdoors and connect with nature....and what better way than through the arts, collaboratively!

Stay tuned for more pictures of our finished works in the next couple weeks....we'll be exploring line, shape, and movement in clay, sticks, stones, and flowers/grasses.

Did you know that you can see Andy Goldsworthy's Sapsucker Cairn at Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, NY --a beautiful place worth visiting. His stone wall is also at Storm King Sculpture Park in the Hudson Valley! Also a great place to visit and spend the day exploring the outdoor sculptures!

We are so very grateful for our spotlight guests for coming in today for Career Day at PYA! Special thanks to Alysha Baier who shared her story and experiences as a potter while providing wheel throwing demonstrations, Preston Reynolds for doing the same but with his photography business, and Paulina Garcés Reid + Sam Castner for providing an interactive mural painting themed around mustang pride all during the career fair! Thank you all for taking the time to connect and engage with our students in these practical and meaningful ways.

Sneak peak! Our annual Student Art Show at the Arts Center Of Yates County is one week from today and we are ready for it! Hope to see you all there! Also -- HUGE shout out to for their generous (edible) donation for this event!
