Because the mechanical shark spent the majority of the shoot malfunctioning or looking laughably fake when it was operational, Spielberg was forced to abandon his original shooting plans. He pivoted toward the suspenseful, Hitchcockian technique of implying the shark's presence rather than showing it fully.

It’s official! The ActingUP Summer Camp this June is Frozen, Jr. Send your children to Arendelle “In Summer,” and “Let It Go.” For two weeks, they play with Elsa, Anna, Sven, Kristoff, Olaf, and trolls. Your kids already know the story and the songs. The camp and performances will be at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 858 Kent Dairy Road, Alabaster. Dates are June 1 – 13, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM with four performances on June 12, 13 and 14.

Class Information
• Our summer camp show is Frozen, Jr.
• The camp is open to ages 8 – 18.
• Conflicts can be discussed with Miss Victoria.
• The camp is $300 with a $250 sibling discount.
• A deposit of $50 is required to hold your child’s spot in the camp.

South City Theatre is doing some serious spring cleaning! With the help of our new landlords and the Pelham Fire Marshall, we are temporarily closing the theatre to focus on renovation efforts. The renovations will result in a safer and more welcoming experience for you, our patrons.

The current production, Red, White, and Tuna is being postponed. Patrons with reservations will be contacted about rescheduling.

South City Theatre is pleased to announce their final show of their 2026/27 season, The Dinner Party by Neil Simon. The director is TBD for this comedic farce. Here is a decidedly French dinner party served up in a chaotic mode that only a master of comedy could create: Five people are invited to dine at a first-rate restaurant in Paris. They do not know who the other guests will be or why they have been invited. Tossed together in a private dining room, they have a sneaking suspicion that this unorthodox dinner party will forever change their lives. The cast consists of 3 women and 3 men. The Dinner Party will run June 11 - 19, 2027.
