Shelly Owen Art

Shelly Owen Art Painting nature’s beauty through bold color, expressive brushwork, and a heart for hope and healing.

I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. My love of art runs deep and has always been fostered by my dad, who remains my biggest cheerleader.

Water-Born Ascent — I painted this heron to portray that moment between stillness and release as it rises from the marsh. I worked in acrylic on a 24x24x1.5" canvas, layering bold blues and purples against warm greens to convey motion and reflective light. The feathered wings and the water’s mirrored colors were my focus — I wanted the piece to reveal both grace and momentum.

Available as an original for $1,125. If you could hang it anywhere, would it go in a living room, entryway, or studio? Tell me which color or detail pulls you in. DM for inquiries.

Roughed out a background for my next piece. It's going to be very nice.

One of the things I love to do besides create beautiful art is to give back to the community. A load of art supplies headed to Pearl High School this morning.

There’s something about a glow that lingers after the storm has passed — that quiet, stubborn warmth that refuses to disappear. The Ember that Remains is a meditation on resilience, stillness, and the kind of beauty that survives in softened light.\n\nI wanted this piece to feel like a moment of breath and reflection, where color becomes both atmosphere and emotion. What do you see in the ember that remains?

Bernadette has a quiet kind of charisma — the kind that doesn’t shout to be noticed, but holds your attention the longer you stay with it. I love how the red, blue, and gold passages glow against the deep green ground, giving the bird both presence and elegance. This piece feels like one of those works that reveals more every time you look at it. It’s full of movement, color, and calm confidence — a reminder that sometimes the most memorable paintings are the ones that don’t ask for attention, they earn it. What do you notice first?
