Water-Born Ascent — I painted this heron to portray that moment between stillness and release as it rises from the marsh. I worked in acrylic on a 24x24x1.5" canvas, layering bold blues and purples against warm greens to convey motion and reflective light. The feathered wings and the water’s mirrored colors were my focus — I wanted the piece to reveal both grace and momentum.

Bernadette has a quiet kind of charisma — the kind that doesn’t shout to be noticed, but holds your attention the longer you stay with it. I love how the red, blue, and gold passages glow against the deep green ground, giving the bird both presence and elegance.
