Stephen Walley, Artistic and Stage director, most recently staged and produced Suor Angelica and Lucia di Lammermoor. As a director, Stephen has overseen and staged numerous productions including Le Nozze di Figaro and The Old Maid and the Thief with Opera Magnifico. Also an active operatic baritone, Mr Walley recently performed as Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor with Sotto Voce (Mar 2025), Marcello in La Boheme with Hudson River Opera (Dec 2024) and NJ Lyric Opera (Nov 2024), Melchior in Amahl and the Night Visitors with NJ Opera Theater (Dec 2024) and Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro with Delaware Valley Opera Company (June 2024). Stephen holds a BM from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and a MM from University of Florida. Stephen has received awards from The Metropolitan Opera, Bel Canto Foundation, Matinee Musicale, and Hal Leonard. Also an active educator, Stephen holds a private voice and piano studio based in Gladstone and Mendham, NJ and serves as the music director for Brookside Community Church.

Introducing our stage director for I Pagliacci, Emily Niemeyer! Get your tickets now at OperaMagnifico.org✨

Emily Niemeyer is a mezzo-soprano, theatre artist and director from New Jersey. She joins Opera Magnifico again after directing Don Pasquale last fall as the director for I Pagliacci. She holds a M.M in Classical Vocal Performance from New Jersey City University, as well as bachelor degrees in both Theatre and Music from Kean University. Previous roles include Fiordiligi in Cosi Fan Tutte (New Jersey City University), Chorus/Alisa Cover in Lucia di Lammermoor (Opera Magnifico) and Chorus in d’Elisir d’amore (Opera Magnifico and NJ Lyric Opera). Beyond performing, Emily works as a director and stage manager, previously working Off-Broadway, and with various opera companies such as Opera Magnifico, NJ Lyric Opera, and dell’Arte Opera Ensemble. Emily serves on the board for Opera Magnifico as the Associate Artistic Director.

Mezzo-soprano Krista Laskowski is gaining recognition for her “flowering, darkly rich voice (Boston Classical Review) and engaging stage presence, earning praise for bringing “an engaging zest” to the American opera and concert stage. In May 2026, she makes her role debut as Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana with Opera Magnifico, following a standout 2025 season that included her Carnegie Hall debut in Mozart’s Requiem with MidAmerica Productions and her role debut as The Mother in Menotti’s The Consul with Hillman Opera. Additional recent engagements include solo appearances in Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Handel’s Messiah, and a Gilbert & Sullivan r***e, as well as performances with companies including Indianapolis Opera,
Opera Tampa, Gulfshore Opera, Odyssey Opera, and Boston
Opera Collaborative. Her repertoire spans both standard and contemporary works, highlighted by acclaimed performances such as Flora Bervoix in Verdi’s La Traviata and the Marquis de Merteuil in the Boston premiere of Conrad Susa’s The Dangerous Liaisons. She holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Vocal Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and is a native of Canandaigua. Introducing: Jessie Downs, who will be singing the role of Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana on May 16! Tickets at OperaMagnifico.org ✨

Jessie Downs is a soprano from central NJ, now a resident of Buffalo NY. Jessie’s performances have been described as “simply stunning,” “a tour de force,” her voice as “sweet,” “very round,” and her range “impressive.” Recent operatic roles include Lucia in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Pamina and The Second Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Suor Angelica in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, and Sashatya in her own The Second Sight. In 2022, Jessie performed the role of Mimi in Puccini’s La Boheme with Opera Magnifico and she is thrilled to be returning in 2026 as Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana. Other upcoming roles include Micaëla in Carmen and Marzelline in Fidelio.

Logan Dell’Acqua is a versatile operatic baritone recognized for his compelling stage presence and broad stylistic range. He has performed with companies including Shreveport Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Detroit Opera, and Nashville Opera, singing roles such as Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Marcello (La bohème), Dancaïre/Moralès (Carmen), Marullo (Rigoletto), Frank Maurrant (Street Scene), Friedrich Bhaer (Little Women), and Sir Lancelot (Spamalot). Most recently, he performed the role of Alfio in a concert version of Cavalleria Rusticana with Long Island Opera Night. A frequent concert soloist, Logan has appeared in Messiah, Elijah, Fauré’s Requiem, and Five Mystical Songs. He holds degrees from the University of Michigan and DePauw University and is the First Place and Baritone Prize winner of the George Shirley Competition.

Introducing: Chaka Allen, who will be singing the role of Tonio in I Pagliacci on May 17! Tickets at OperaMagnifico.org ✨

Chaka Allen, baritone, has been gaining experience singing Verdi roles in regional companies in New Jersey and Pennsylvania such Scarpia, Germont, Conte Di Luna, and Don Carlo from La Forza, along with the Figaro of Rossini (and Mozart), Schaunard and Marcello of Puccini, and Mercutio of Gounod
He was trained vocally with private teachers for 8 years, trained in Italian at the Italian Institute in Westwood, CA, and trained in acting at West Los Angeles College. Originally a trumpet player, Chaka turned to singing with the Pasadena Community Orchestra, UCLA Symphony, and later with Orchestra Society of Philadelphia.
Today, he lives in Berwyn, PA with his wife and two daughters, and coaches privately with visiting teacher dramatic mezzo Dolora Zajick at the Curtis Institute of Music.

Introducing: Zach Angus, who will be singing the role of Tonio in I Pagliacci on May 16! Tickets at OperaMagnifico.org ✨

Philadelphia-based baritone Zachary Angus has been praised by Chicago Theater Review for his “earnest and spinning instrument,” and in recent years has become a fixture on the regional opera and concert stage. Zachary is excited to be returning to Opera Magnifico, having performed Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor and Dr. Malatesta in Don Pasquale. In addition to bel canto and verismo repertoire, Zachary has found a home in new works, recently creating roles in world premieres of David Winkler's Rossini Perduto (Long Island Concert Orchestra) and Daniel Asia's The Tin Angel (Teatro Grattacielo). Zachary is also an accomplished recitalist, recently giving performances of Kevin Puts' The Brightness of Light (Liberty City Arts for the 2025 Philadelphia Fringe Festival) and Dichterliebe, (Poor Richard's Chamber Music Society).
