This week I was asked a simple question:
What do you want to be known for?

My first answer was easy: Making really great art.

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that's not actually the answer.

Art is what I make.
It's not why I make it.

Everything I create comes back to the same thing: connection.

When I make a spoon rest, I'm creating something that becomes part of someone's daily ritual.

When I press a leaf into clay, I'm preserving a moment from the natural world.

When I build a village from a single block of clay, I'm telling a story about community.

And one of my favorite parts of being an artist isn't selling pottery at all.

It's the conversations. The stories people share. The connections made across a table at an art festival, in a workshop, or through a piece that finds its way into someone's home.

The ceramics are simply the medium. Connection is the purpose.

One of the most magical parts of pottery is that the finished piece often looks nothing like it did before firing.

In this video, you’ll see each piece in its raw glaze state form and then after it emerges from the kiln. The glazes look completely different before firing because the temperatures of over 2,000°F transform them into a finished glaze that will last a lifetime and is fully food safe.

When we were setting up at Mayfaire On-the-Lake this past Friday in 100 degree sun and drenched from head to toe in sweat, I turned to James and said - “We will never do this show again unless we sell more pottery than we’ve EVER sold at a show!”

Well, Lakeland, we’ll see you in the sunshine in 2027 because it was officially my best show ever!

But honestly, the best part was meeting so many wonderful people from all over Central Florida. We loved spending the weekend with you all and can’t wait to come back next year!
