PAAL works closely with the Payson Unified School District’s Superintendent, Director of Special Services, Principals, GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) Coordinators and teachers to provide the schools and teachers with adequate tools and resources to facilitate gifted and talented learning environments. PAAL also organizes, in conjunction with PUSD, additional educational and cultural experien
ces outside of school designed to provide gifted and talented children with life experiences they cannot get in the classroom environment. Fundraising to support both gifted and talented curriculum in the schools, as well as additional activities, is a large part of what PAAL does throughout the year, as many of these courses and programs are not currently supported by PUSD’s budget. As a result of our advocacy, the Payson Unified School District School Board has added gifted education to the district’s annual goals. Through our fundraising efforts, we have provided financial support to the district for GATE Coordinator stipends, teacher education and training scholarships, educational field trips, classroom technology and gifted testing materials.
