--Anything but Practical --

Born from the belief that the greatest realities begin as impracticalities, Reverie Theatre Group is a little theatre company that unlocks big dreams. Reverie is a performing arts organization that emphasizes overall theatrical process alongside performance, striving to build an inclusive and welcoming community where artists are encouraged to unify, explore, and grow while practicing their craft.

Through the lens of intersectional feminism, Reverie empowers women leaders and tells stories that present womanhood as a realm of profound subjectivity and boundless possibility.

Reverie Theatre Group has grown into the theatre it is today, not only because of our hard-working casts and crews, but because of donors like you. Thanks to your donations we can continue to work towards our mission of producing safe, professional, and inclusive theatre that compensates all of our artists—whether here in Providence, or over in New Bedford.

We wouldn't be able to do any of this without your continued support and generosity, and so we’d love to extend that generosity in return! We are proud to introduce a tiered sponsorship program designed to show our appreciation for our financial supporters. Swipe through for a peek at our rewards—including free tickets! ✝️💀 Introducing the cast of Hamlet 💀✝️

Reverie Theatre Group is proud to once again partner with the Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum for our fifth annual Shakespeare in New Bedford production. This year, we welcome you to Elsinore Baptist Church in the small but mighty state of Denmark, USA. Located on the border of Georgia, Alabama, and Florida, our congregation is led by Reverend Claudius, who has just been elected King of Denmark following the death of his brother. Claudius has assumed this position eagerly, leading with a strong hand and reinforcing “traditional” values to strengthen his community. Those who find themselves on the edges of Claudius’ society, however, can smell something rotten in the state of Denmark.

This Hamlet is set in a church in the present-day American south, blurring the seeming divide between church and state. With emphasis on exploring grief, faith, corruption, and LGBTQ+ issues, we cannot wait to ring in yet another year of free, accessible Shakespeare with such an iconic tragedy (and an equally iconic cast and crew).

Hamlet runs from August 13th-23rd, Thursday-Sunday, at the Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum in New Bedford, MA. Admission is free, but donations are accepted! Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
