How did the first MapTimeRI go?
We had so much fun! Learned some open source software, some OpenStreetMap and some QGIS all over b**rs from Discipline Brewing Co | Rhode Island and snacks.

MaptimeRI had a great kickoff at The Map Center tonight! About a dozen folks came with their laptops to make maps together. We learned how to run queries in QGIS to select and modify data and display it. Most folks are learning this stuff for the first time ever so the goal isn't making it pretty. The goal is to have fun learning with other people (and have a b**r break at Discipline Brewing Co | Rhode Island).

What do maps and comics have in common? Maybe a better question would be "what's the difference?"

Today's gratitude journal:
A guy I've never met before drove up from Richmond VA JUST TO VISIT THE MAP CENTER.

A devastatingly smart 16 year old girl came in with parents in tow. Mom and Dad were feeling out of their depth but were so kind and committed to fueling their daughter's passion.

This was SUPPOSED to be the plaque that marks the start of the Mason Dixon line but apparently it was down for maintenan...
