🚧 Waccamaw Rec Center Update 🚧

July 10, 2025

This year, three new HVAC systems have been acquired and installed at the Waccamaw Regional Recreation Center. In addition, repairs and upgrades have been made or are in progress to the systems serving the gymnasium, senior/kitchen areas, and locker rooms.

While HVAC systems remain down in several county recreation centers, Waccamaw has been prioritized for repairs. However, the availability of parts has caused delays. Currently, components needed for the gymnasium HVAC system are on order. These parts must be custom fabricated, and the manufacturer has indicated they will not be available until mid-August. These parts will be installed immediately upon receipt.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause our facility users. Despite these challenges, the Waccamaw Regional Recreation Center has reopened as of July 10, 2025. Please note that the gymnasium will remain without functioning HVAC until the required parts are received and installed. As a result, temperatures in the gym may remain elevated.

Staff will continue to monitor conditions closely and make every effort to accommodate as many programs and users as possible. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we work to restore full functionality to the facility.

🚧 Waccamaw Rec Center Update 🚧

While we are making headway in HVAC repairs, the building will remain closed until further notice as we continue to prioritize the safety of our visitors and staff.

The Senior Center unit is now operational, so seniors are welcome to return next week, and voting on the 8th will continue as planned.

🚨 Facility Update – Waccamaw Regional Rec Center 🚨

Due to unexpected issues with HVAC repairs, the Waccamaw Regional Recreation Center will remain closed for the remainder of the week. We’re working hard to get everything cooled off and comfortable again! We will continue to update as repairs are completed.

🚧 Facility Closure Notice 🚧

Please join us on Friday, Dec. 16 from 6-7pm for a Tree Lighting at the Waccamaw Regional Recreation Center! The Pawleys Island Civic Club will also be on-hand to accept new, unwrapped toys for their annual toy drive.

Additionally, all facilities which normally host open gym/free play on Sundays will be closed on Sunday, July 3.

We will be closed on Monday, June 20 in recognition of Juneteenth.

Most facilities will be closed on Monday, June 20 in recognition of Juneteenth. Additionally, the Andrews and Beck Recreation Centers will be closed on Sunday, June 19.

The Murrells Inlet Community Center will be open for regularly scheduled classes on Monday, however the office will be closed.

The Waccamaw Regional Tennis Center at Stables Park will be open for their regularly scheduled hours.
