Is there a way to get this screw to tighten?
The screw is constantly pulling out of the hole. It’s a metal gate. Any good methods to fix this so that I can get it tightened? Thanks in advance!

I’ve got this pergola that came with these fasteners, and I’m already side-eyeing the hardware like… are we serious? 😭

I don’t think I can use these on the deck boards, especially since I don’t have access underneath the deck anyway. So now I’m trying to figure out the safest way to mount this thing without creating a whole new problem.

Should I just use shorter lag bolts instead? Has anyone mounted a pergola to deck boards without access underneath? Or is there a better fastener setup I should be using before I start drilling holes and regretting my life choices?

How do I fix this broken pipe, because yard work officially chose violence today? 😭

Hey everybody, hope you’re all doing well. My family was out doing some yard work, and somehow this pipe ended up broken. One minute everything was normal, next minute we’re staring at this like, “Well… now what?”

Has anyone dealt with this before? Is this something I can fix myself, or am I about to need a plumber? What’s the best way to repair it without making the problem worse?

Any ideas or advice would be appreciated. Thanks to anyone who replies!

I’m sorry but my pitchfork really chose violence and then quit halfway through the job 😭

One of the tines snapped clean off, and now I’m standing here looking at it like… is this still a pitchfork or did it just become a weird garden comb with commitment issues?

Let me be clear — I don’t want to throw the whole thing away if there’s a decent fix. The handle is fine, most of the fork is fine, but that broken piece is sitting there like it personally betrayed me.

Can this be welded back on and actually hold up? Is it even worth repairing, or am I just delaying the inevitable trip to buy a new one? And how does one tine breaking somehow make the entire tool look emotionally damaged?

How would you fix this hole in a porch beam without replacing the whole thing? 😭

Replacing it really isn’t an option right now, and I don’t have the tools to take everything apart too much. I’m trying to figure out the best way to repair it so it actually lasts, not just some quick patch that crumbles again in a few years.

Should I fill the hole with foam first, or is that just asking for trouble later? What would you use to make this repair solid enough to hopefully last another 10 years? And has anyone dealt with old “sand” and debris falling out from a repair that was done 20+ years ago?

I’d really appreciate any advice before I make this worse trying to fix it.

How do I fix a door strike plate when the frame basically has nothing solid behind it? 😭

I live in an old building, and the bathroom door strike plate will not stay on anymore. The frame is over drywall instead of being screwed into a stud like you’d expect in a normal setup, and at this point the screw holes are completely ripped apart.

I’m trying to figure out how to get something solid for the screws to bite into without tearing everything apart or cutting open the wall. I thought about just gluing the strike plate on, but let’s be honest… that feels like a temporary “future me problem” waiting to happen.

Has anyone fixed this kind of old-building door frame mess before? Is there a way to anchor the strike plate properly without opening the wall? Or am I stuck doing a bigger repair than I was hoping for?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Can I fix this coaxial cable or am I officially losing a fight with a treadmill? 😭

I just picked up a used Freemotion 790 interactive treadmill, and it was wobbling like crazy. I took it apart thinking I was about to solve some huge mystery… turns out it was just a couple missing screws. Easy fix, right?

Well, somehow while taking it apart, I accidentally popped the coax cable out of the fastener, and now this tiny little cable has become the main villain of the whole project.

Is there any way to fix this myself without buying the exact replacement part for around $50? Has anyone actually gotten one of these back together without replacing the whole thing? And how in the world do you get this fastener off when it refuses to move?

I already tried shoving it back in like optimism was a repair method… and yeah, that did absolutely nothing. Please tell me there’s a cheaper way before this treadmill becomes garage decoration.

I’m sorry but nothing humbles you faster than dragging a suitcase one time and suddenly feeling like you committed a crime against hardwood flooring 😭

I’m packing to go out of town, decided to move my suitcase myself instead of asking for help, and somehow managed to scratch the wood floor. Of course it happened when I’m already busy, already trying to leave, and absolutely do not have time for a full floor repair side quest.

Let me be clear — I know it’s not the end of the world, but when it’s your floor staring back at you with a fresh scratch, it feels major. Now I’m over here wondering if this is a quick fix, a wood marker situation, a wax stick situation, or if I just need to accept that my suitcase left a permanent autograph.

Has anyone fixed scratches like this before? What’s the cheapest and fastest way to make it less noticeable? And am I being dramatic, or does every tiny floor scratch instantly look 10 times worse when you’re the one who caused it?

I’m sorry but this steel toe boot decided to open up right where fixing it feels like a puzzle 😭

Trying to patch this hole and I’ve got Shoe Goo ready, but now I’m staring at it wondering how I’m supposed to actually seal it shut and keep it clamped while it cures. Like do I tape it? Wrap it? Clamp it? Pray over it and hope the boot forgives me?

Let me be clear — I’m not trying to make these look brand new. I just need them functional enough to stop getting worse and not have the side of the boot peeling open like a busted sandwich.

The problem is it’s right along that weird edge where the leather and sole meet, so it’s not exactly a flat easy patch. I don’t want to glob Shoe Goo everywhere and end up with a sticky mess that still separates the first time I bend my foot.

Has anyone repaired a split like this before? What’s the best way to hold it closed while the glue cures? And at what point do I stop pretending this is a repair job and admit the boot is trying to retire?

I’m sorry but this one stripped screw has turned a simple hinge replacement into a full emotional breakdown 😭

I’m replacing door hinges around the house, and of course the previous owners apparently used giant 4-inch screws like they were securing a bank vault. Every other screw came out, but this last one decided it was going to become part of the house forever.

Let me be clear — the Phillips head *looks* like it’s still there in the picture, but it’s basically fake. It’s like someone filled the crosshairs with superglue and then laughed from the walls. Rubber band trick? Failed. Duct tape trick? Failed. Speed Out extractor? Just made a smooth little crater that refuses to bite.

I even broke the hinge away to get better access and tried grabbing the screw with heavy duty pliers, but now it’s just tearing up the door frame while the screw sits there completely unbothered.

At this point, do I drill the whole thing out? Cut a slot into it? Call someone before I destroy the frame? And why does one tiny screw always have the power to ruin an entire DIY project?
