New Crochet Summer Beach Set
Pattern 1: The Seashell Mesh Beach Bag
This pattern is designed to be sturdy, featuring dense stitching on the bottom and a light, breathable "mesh" section on the body that highlights the texture seen in the inspiration set (image 0.png).
Skill Level: Easy/Intermediate
Gauge: 16 sts = 4 inches in sc
Materials:
Yarn: 3 skeins (approx. 600 yards) of bulky weight cotton yarn (e.g., Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton in 'Cream' or 'Ecru'). You can also use two strands of worsted cotton held together for similar sturdiness.
Hook: 5.0 mm (H/8) crochet hook.
Notions: Yarn needle, scissors, measuring tape, 2 large tassel charms (optional).

1a. Bag Bottom (Oval Base)
Note: Work in rounds, do not turn.
Base: Ch 26.
Round 1: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in next 23 chains. 3 sc in the last ch (you are now turning the corner). Sc in the unused loops of the chain (opposite side) for the next 23 sts. Sl st to join in first sc. [52 sts]
Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in next 3 sts. Sc 23. 2 sc in next 3 sts. Sc 23. Sl st to join. [58 sts]
Round 3: Ch 1, (sc, 2 sc in next) 3 times. Sc 23. (sc, 2 sc in next) 3 times. Sc 23. Sl st to join. [64 sts]
Round 4-10: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Sl st to join. [64 sts] The bottom should be oval.
1b. Bag Body (Lace and Mesh Stitch)
Note: We will transition to a mesh pattern inspired by the top in image 0.png.
Round 11 (Transition): Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in next st. Ch 1, sk 1, dc in next 2 sts. Repeat from * to * around. Sl st to 3rd ch of initial ch-3. [Approx 21 ch-1 spaces]
Round 12: Sl st to first ch-1 space. Ch 4 (counts as dc+ch1). Sk next dc, dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, sk next dc. Repeat from * to * around. Join to 3rd ch of initial ch-4.
Rounds 13-32: Repeat Round 12.
1c. Top Border and Straps
Rounds 33-35: Ch 1, sc in each dc and each ch-1 sp around. [Approx 64 sc]
Round 36 (Strap Setup): Work sc to side of the bag. Ch 60 (for handle length—adjust as desired). Skip 10 sc along the top edge of the bag. Sc into the next st.
