Hello Beautiful Friends!

Looking for a peaceful way to enjoy a beautiful June day in Patagonia?

StoryWalk® Book for June

Take a stroll through town and enjoy the story as its pages unfold along the path. Patagonia Library’s StoryWalk® invites readers of all ages to combine fresh air, movement, and storytelling into one shared adventure. Begin near Town Hall and follow the trail as the story reveals itself one page at a time.

This month we're featuring “If Not for You” by Bob Dylan, beautifully illustrated by David Walker. Adapted from Dylan's beloved song, this heartwarming story celebrates friendship, gratitude, and the special people who brighten our lives. With charming artwork and a gentle message, it's a wonderful reminder of how much we mean to one another.

It's a walk, a story, and a little bit of Patagonia magic all in one.

When you finish, stop back in and tell us what you thought. We love hearing how the story traveled with you!

Artist Spotlight: Eva Arenas

Born in Denver, Colorado, and shaped by a lifetime in the Southwest, Eva Arenas brings the beauty of the desert to life through her stunning watercolor paintings. After studying art in Arizona, Mexico, Italy, and Spain, Eva found her true inspiration in the landscapes, plants, and vibrant colors of the American Southwest. For decades, she has painted the region's iconic scenery, capturing everything from dramatic desert sunsets to the intricate beauty of native cacti and blooming wildflowers. Her work reflects a deep appreciation for the land and a remarkable ability to translate light, color, and atmosphere onto paper and canvas. Eva's paintings have been featured in exhibitions throughout the country and can be found in both private and public collections.

We are excited to share that we have two new original Eva Arenas paintings available at Patagonia Trading Post!

“Yucca Sunset” is a beautifully framed 18" x 24" watercolor featuring blooming yucca against a glowing desert sky, available for $640.

“Red Trichocereus” is a striking 30" x 40" painting showcasing the brilliant crimson blooms of a desert cactus, available for $775.

These original works are wonderful examples of Eva's talent for capturing the color, texture, and spirit of the Southwest. Stop by and see them in person before they're gone!

Welcome to “Feel Good Friday!”

Each week we’ll be shining a light on local businesses and nonprofits making a positive difference to Patagonia, AZ and the surrounding communities. This is our way of sharing their stories and celebrating greatness so close to home!

The Patagonia Trading Post’s Local Non-Profit of the Week is:

Youth On Their Own

Founded in Tucson in 1986, YOTO was created after educators noticed that talented, determined students were dropping out of school simply because they were experiencing homelessness or trying to survive without stable family support. What began as one person wanting to help a handful of students grew into an incredible community effort that has now supported thousands of local youth on their journey toward graduation and brighter futures.

YOTO works to remove barriers that can make education feel impossible by providing financial assistance, school supplies, food, hygiene items, transportation help, guidance, and everyday support for students facing housing insecurity. Their mission is simple but powerful: helping young people stay in school, earn their diplomas, and build a path toward long term success.

Behind every student is a story of resilience, determination, and a community choosing to believe in someone’s future. This week we are sending extra appreciation to the staff, volunteers, supporters, and students who remind us that even small acts of support can truly change lives.

Artist Spotlight: Red Glasses Art, Susan Wischmann - Tucson, AZ

We are so excited to share a fresh new batch of whimsical greeting cards from Susan! These playful little works of art are full of personality, storytelling, and Southwestern charm, featuring everything from moonlit desert scenes and wandering javelinas to curious pups, sheep, chickens, and colorful vintage campers under starry skies.

Susan was an Art teacher and elementary school librarian for 36 years in Montana before making her way to the Southwest. She earned her Art degree from the University of Montana in Missoula and has always been inspired by the illustrations found in children’s picture books. That sense of wonder and imagination shines through in every piece she creates.

Her artwork blends whimsical storytelling with bold color, balance, and a deep love for the natural beauty of the Southwest. Each card feels like a tiny little world of its own, filled with humor, warmth, and imagination that is sure to bring a smile to your face.

Susan’s work can also be found at the Southern Arizona Arts Guild Gallery and Absolutely Art Gallery & Gifts in Tucson, and we are delighted to carry both her artwork and these charming new greeting cards right here at Patagonia Trading Post!

Hello Beautiful Friends!

Today we’re celebrating an artist whose imagination transforms everyday objects into extraordinary stories and playful works of art.

Artist Spotlight: Saul Lieberman - Patagonia, AZ

Saul Lieberman is a professional set builder for theater productions. Using materials such as styrofoam, lumber and secondhand objects, he creates the illusion of parlors and courtrooms, forests and city streets. Over the past 30 years, he has built sets for Hollywood movies, television shows, opera, and ballet.

Saul is also a creator of whimsy. In his studio here in Patagonia - Mañana Studio & Gallery - bolts and buttons, high-heeled shoes and rusted bed springs, k***s, keys, hooks, and sprockets of every description cover the walls, tables, and spill out into the courtyard of his studio.

Guided by a wry sense of humor and an affection for the unexpected, Saul fashions faces and forms from these found objects. His faces and critters gaze out at us like characters from a Theater of the Absurd. His mobiles, a thoughtfully suspended balance of random objects and hardware, suggest an e.e. cummings poem or a drawing by Rube Goldberg.

Saul has exhibited his creations in several Tucson galleries, and his works can be seen right here at Patagonia Trading Post!

Author Spotlight: Joseph Ciofalo - Patagonia, AZ

Sometimes the smallest moments can inspire the most meaningful stories.

Local author and friend Joseph Ciofalo was enjoying a quiet morning with a book and a cup of coffee when a young little girl wandered over carrying a book of her own. Without much hesitation, she climbed into the chair beside him and began flipping through her pages while he read his. For several peaceful minutes, the two sat quietly together, simply sharing the joy and comfort that books can bring.
That simple encounter stayed with Joseph long after the morning ended. In fact, it inspired him to wake up in the middle of the night and begin writing Rosie’s Wonderful Discovery at The Quail Covey, a heartwarming children’s story inspired by that real-life moment right here in our community.

We are so excited to carry this beautiful locally inspired book at Patagonia Trading Post. It’s a sweet reminder of the importance of reading, imagination, connection, and the special magic that can happen in small towns like ours.

Women's Foundation for the State of Arizona

For this Feel Good Friday, we wanted to recognize the incredible work being done by the Women's Foundation for the State of Arizona right here in Southern Arizona. Founded in Tucson and now serving communities across the entire state, WFSA is dedicated to creating social, political, and economic change that helps women and girls of all identities thrive. Through research, advocacy, community investment, leadership programs, and grant funding, they work to break down barriers and create lasting opportunities for women and families throughout Arizona.

What makes their work especially inspiring is their commitment to listening to real lived experiences and turning those voices into meaningful action. From supporting nonprofits and community programs to advocating for policy changes and educational opportunities, WFSA continues to invest in a stronger, more equitable future for Arizona communities. Their work reminds us how powerful community support, compassion, and opportunity can truly be.

We are always grateful to highlight organizations helping make Arizona a kinder, stronger, and more connected place for everyone.
