Fifth Saturday Contra Dance - Pasadena, CA 91107 - Los Angeles Live music ALWAYS! Make new friends, exercise and be a part of a fun community. Admission: $15-$40 sliding scale - $30 recommended Contra dancing is fun! Easy!

Come join our dances, we welcome all ages and no experience necessary.

6:30pm - 11:00 pm - dance! It is danced to live music which can have an array of instruments depending on the band. There is a caller who calls the dance by doing a "walk through" before each dance. Once you get the steps to the dance, the pattern just repeats itself. Every week, there is a 30 minute lesson before the dance ev

ening begins to go over basic steps for beginners. That is the best time to get an overall view. But, the caller will also do a quick 5 minute review before each dance so you can still learn them if you missed the lesson. If you can walk, you can dance! People in the dance community are very nice and will help you if you do get lost or jumbled. Just remember to trust them when they lead you towards the right direction. My intent is to keep alive the tradition of American Folk Music overall, but I am here to promote a healthy strong dance community for the Los Angeles area. This is an open group so please invite your friends. Also, feel free to post any videos and photos related to our Contra dances as well. We are a friendly dance group who wants to share the fun with more new people. This is a great place to let loose, get some exercise, meet new friends, and listen to energetic live music. Join us for a very special dance as we welcome Tempest; fiddler extraordinaire Chris Knepper, guitar wizard, Chuck Abell, and Eric Metzgar on drums for an extra zesty 5th Saturday funfest. Rich Goss from Portland, Oregon will be our dynamic caller. Don’t miss this high energy romp! Potluck refreshments!

Dance is from 7pm to 11pm. (There will no dance lesson.)
