Another ridiculously cool book just hit the shelves!

Hans Gremmen: The Incomplete Deck
A raw visual record of discarded playing cards, scavenged straight off the streets worldwide by Dutch designer Hans Gremmen.

Guided by two uncompromising rules—“pick up only one card at a time” and “if a deck is scattered, take only the first card (plus the Joker, if you’re lucky)”

this ZINE charts a trail through 15 cities, from Amsterdam, London, and NY to Las Vegas, LA, Paris, Venice, and Rotterdam.

Functioning as a postscript to Gremmen’s In Between, an Incomplete Index, it transforms humble playing cards into a theatrical slice of design history, fusing street observation with the pure thrill of chance and collecting.

Every single copy comes with a real, randomly inserted card tucked inside. Which card will you end up picking?

We just got a copy of “The World of Chikabo Kumada: Beautiful Because He Loves Them” in stock! 🐞
Known affectionately as “Kumachika,” Chikabo Kumada is famous for his illustrated picture-book editions of Fabre’s Book of Insects and other classic storybooks. Look at any creature he draws, and you immediately feel his deep love for them. He doesn’t paint small insects, birds, or plants as cold, museum-style specimens—he paints them vibrant, pulsing, and truly alive.

This book serves as the official exhibition catalog and art collection, commemorating the 15th anniversary of his passing. Packed with around 200 works, it features original artwork from classic picture books, whimsical fantasy pieces of fairies and flora, detailed sketches, and Kumachika’s own heartfelt words and philosophy on nature.

Time really flies, but at the same time, it feels like we’ve been part of Pasadena for much longer. It’s such a funny feeling to realize it hasn’t even been a year yet!
