“Aichi Mandala: The Early Works of Shomei Tomatsu “

Shomei Tomatsu was one of the defining photographers of postwar Japan. He was fifteen when Japan surrendered in 1945. Beginning his career in the ruins of Nagoya, Tomatsu photographed a country caught between reconstruction and rapid change, shaped by the memory of war and the experience of American occupation.

Aichi Mandala traces his early work in Aichi, the region where he was born and raised. Before Nagasaki and Okinawa, this is where Tomatsu’s distinctive way of seeing began to take shape.

A glimpse into the origins of one of Japan’s most important photographic voices.

THE GREAT UTOPIA, a monumental exhibition catalogue on the Russian Avant-Garde, has arrived.

It is a documentary resource from the legendary exhibition that toured major venues such as the Guggenheim Museum and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam between 1992 and 1993.
It condenses the passion of the avant-garde movement that swept through revolutionary Russia from 1915 to 1932 into a single volume, featuring artists such as Malevich, Lissitzky, Rodchenko, and Tatlin.
As shown on the cover, it contains chronologies and heavy essays in three languages—Dutch, English, and German—along with an overwhelming collection of over 650 full-color reproductions. For those who want to dig deep into design, architecture, photography, and art history, this is undoubtedly a once-in-a-lifetime book.

1920s–1930s Japanese Art Deco & Graphic Design Volumes 1 & 2.

Long before modern manga and anime, 1920s and 30s Tokyo had its own booming graphic arts scene—heavily inspired by Paris Art Deco, Jazz Age culture, and Western pop fashion.
These two volume reprints collect rare, original commercial illustrations, cut-out art, and typography from that era:

    •    Volume 1: Features Ryoji Naito’s Creative Cut & Design Collection, full of stylish “Modern Girl” (Moga) fashion and roaring-twenties illustrations.
