AUDITION NOTICE: The Nutcracker - CHILDREN’S ROLES!

Young dancers are invited to audition for Pasadena Dance Theatre’s 2026 production of The Nutcracker, choreographed by Jessamyn Vedro and performed at San Gabriel Mission Playhouse!

Enrolled PDT students and children from outside our Conservatory with dance experience are welcome to audition. If your dancer is new to PDT, we encourage you to schedule a trial class before the audition. Reach out to - [email protected] - to set it up! We’d love to meet you.

Performance is part of the training at Pasadena Dance Theatre.

From Laurence Blake’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream last spring (shown here!), to the productions ahead this season, our dancers have opportunities to take what they learn in the studio and bring it to the stage through character, storytelling, collaboration, and live performance.

Take the stage with Pasadena Dance Theatre this holiday season! 🩰

We’re inviting experienced ballet artists to audition for PDT’s annual production of The Nutcracker, performed at the historic San Gabriel Mission Playhouse.

Featuring choreography by Jessamyn Vedro, this production brings professional and pre-professional dancers together for one of PDT’s most anticipated performances of the year.

We’re thrilled to welcome Guest Choreographer Norbert De La Cruz III Norbert De La Cruz III to PDT!✨

Norbert will be joining us August 17th–22nd to create a brand-new work with our Advanced dancers for CONVERGENCE, challenging them artistically and inspiring new creative possibilities.

Born in the Philippines and raised in Los Angeles, Norbert is an acclaimed choreographer, performer, and educator. He holds a BFA from The Juilliard School and an MFA from Hollins University and is currently Resident Choreographer for Saint Louis Dance Theatre.

A recipient of the Princess Grace Foundation-USA Choreography Fellowship, Norbert has created works for companies including BalletX, Ballet Memphis, Richmond Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Grand Rapids Ballet, and Hubbard Street 2. His work has also been developed through the Alvin Ailey New Directions Choreography Lab, National Choreographic Initiative, and New York Choreographic Institute.

We’re so excited to have Norbert in the studio and for our Advanced dancers to experience his creative process. We can’t wait to share this new work with you at CONVERGENCE, October 17th–18th at the PDT Studio Theater!

Guest choreographer Norbert De La Cruz III joins us this fall, bringing new work to our Advanced dancers, and we can’t wait to activate our studios with dance, music, and creativity.

Summer Intensive memories!✨

Each day brings a new challenge as dancers move between styles, work with different faculty, and stretch their versatility. The week closes with a studio showcase where families and friends get a glimpse of everything the dancers have explored together.
