One month ago, my life changed forever. Braden, throughout our relationship, would encourage me to be the most authentic me.

We spend so much of our childhood answering what we want to be, but the real healing begins when we finally arrive at who we are meant to be.

All we have is now.

This was a photograph I took on one of our nature trail hikes with Braden.

I will cherish this message forever.
Hope this resonates.

On view through November 5, 2026

Eleven homes burned to the ground in my immediate neighborhood in Pasadena, bordering the southern edge of Altadena. After returning from the mandatory evacuation, I did my best to resume my daily morning walks — a small ritual of return, a way of re-entering a landscape that was no longer what it had been.

On one of those walks, I saw this abandoned chair — torn asunder, leaving behind layers of fabric, cloth, and other materials. Each layer seemingly telling its own story of the fire that had transpired. I stopped and made this photograph.

Found is made through a custom infrared process I developed in post-production, one that draws out colors and textures the eye doesn't ordinarily register. The process asks a familiar scene to reveal what it holds beneath its visible surface — not destruction alone, but the quiet persistence of material, of form, of what remains.

Grateful to have the work seen and selected by Chandra Glick, Photo Director at Artforum. To be recognized by someone whose eye shapes the conversation around contemporary photography means a great deal.

I won't be able to make tonight's opening, but I encourage everyone to visit the show — it's a beautiful exhibition with work from an incredible community of photographers. I look forward to meeting you there before it closes on November 5th.

Thank you to the Los Angeles Center of Photography for continuing to build space for this community.

We are all deserving of safe spaces to breathe, to let go, and to come back to ourselves. If you are that safe space for someone, never hesitate to reach out. We can all make a difference, big or small.

Canopies (2026)
60 Ă— 40 in., silver dibond
Commissioned by the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture
Restorative Care Village, Boyle Heights, CA

This is my most recent commission for LA County's Restorative Care Villages — a space inside Boyle Heights built to serve the most vulnerable in our larger community. It is one of the biggest pieces I've made for an interior site.

The photograph is made with infrared light, a spectrum beyond ordinary sight, and shaped in post-production to draw out the quiet glow that living things carry but we rarely see.

As with any public art project, schedules change. I was so fortunate to have Braden jump in last minute — as he would for anything — to beautifully document this part of the project for me. He got to see firsthand how this piece was made from conception to completion. More importantly, he was so proud of me.

Braden was meant to be a part of the public engagement side of this work. Canopies is meant to be healing and far-reaching beyond the visual aspect — we were in the process of recruiting musicians together to bring that dimension to life. I will be continuing those efforts moving forward, and I know he will be guiding me in spirit.

Canopies was always about coming back to the self — and how we branch out as shelter for one another. Each individual leaf, each extended branch, is a reverberation of one another. Our lives intertwined, connecting us to a life source of support and love.

The work draws on the practice of forest bathing as shelter, and on the belief held across many cultures that to gather light, to look slowly, is a way of tending to oneself.

It asks for nothing but a pause. A meaningful return to the self.

May it offer a breath, a little light, and a moment of stillness to all who pass beneath it.

Don’t let the present pass you by.

That is the gift.

I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of synchronicity—the idea that two events can be completely random, yet feel deeply connected.

In my Synchronicities series, I’m searching for that tension. The reds and pinks in these frames aren't just aesthetic; they are an invitation to see the 'altered state' that has always been present in the overlooked and the discarded. We are deeply detached from our surroundings, yet woven into every corner of them.

Which of these synchronicities resonates with you today?
