The Sierra Madre Chorale is a group of people who love singing! While we are nonprofessionals, we feel the importance of striving for the best performance possible. We are a friendly group of people who enjoy each other's company. Our rehearsals are serious, but it wouldn’t be a Monday night without a little laughter. Out of this laughter comes the desire to do the best we can with each note of mu
sic. We respect each other and realize we are all doing our best, whether it is more or less than ourselves. Come, join us for a rehearsal and see for yourself what you are missing! The Sierra Madre Chorale was created in 1994, by Choral Director Fred Copeland who has continued as director through the years. Fred’s goal was to create a place for non-professional singers to come together and experience the joy of creating beautiful music and sharing the camaraderie of other singers who enjoy the harmony and blend that singing together with others creates. Fred’s vision of his choir is like an artist and his canvas. The director
should use his hands like an artist’s paintbrush, mixing the colors of
the different sections into a harmonious tapestry of sound. He mixes the brightness of the sopranos with the warm richness of
the altos and adds the sparkle of the tenors with the rich, low
foundation of the bass. The mixture of these lush hues creates a
visual rainbow of sounds. The Sierra Madre Chorale was created
with such a vision in mind. It is hoped that this vision will create
within the Chorale a standard of music and professionalism for years
to come.
