🎵 Before Puss, there was Spin.

Before HarperCollins released the individual songs from Puss in Boots a Musical on streaming platforms, they did the same for our other Jim Dale audiobook musical, Spin the Rumpelstiltskin Musical.

And Spin has had quite a journey of its own.

Our musical retelling of the classic Rumpelstiltskin story, created by Neil Fishman and Harvey Edelman and narrated by the incomparable Jim Dale with a full cast, won the Audie Award for Most Original Work and two Society of Voice Arts and Sciences (SOVAS) Awards.

For years, the songs lived primarily within the complete audiobook. Now they can be enjoyed individually on Spotify and other major streaming platforms.

We'll be revisiting some of the songs and sharing more stories and photographs from the creation and recording of Spin.

📻 50 YEARS LATER, WE’RE GOING BACK ON THE AIR!

On the Air made its Off-Broadway debut in New York a long time ago.

Now, fifty years later, we're delighted to announce that On the Air will return to the stage in a new 50th Anniversary production, produced by Kezar Productions at The Beach Theatre in St. Pete Beach, Florida, April 15–19, 2027.

Conceived and written by Peter C. Palame, with music by Neil Fishman and lyrics by Harvey Edelman, On the Air is our affectionate—and irreverent—musical spoof of the Golden Age of Radio, when families gathered around the radio for comedy, drama, mysteries, soap operas and variety shows.

It's remarkable to us that something we created half a century ago is getting another turn in the spotlight.

Over the coming months, we'll be sharing stories, songs and memories from the original production—as well as news from the new one.

April 15–19, 2027 • The Beach Theatre • St. Pete Beach, Florida

Stay tuned for more. 📻

When Jim Dale asks how large your orchestra is…

We've been looking back at photographs from the recording sessions for our audiobook musicals Spin: The Rumpelstiltskin Musical and Puss in Boots a Musical at CDM Studios in Manhattan.

That's Jim Dale at the microphone.

As we remember it, part of what attracted Jim to Spin was the Rumpelstiltskin story itself—and the humor in our script. Once he came aboard, we had the privilege of watching a consummate performer turn words on a page into characters.

Neil Fishman remembers one exchange particularly well.

Jim, apparently impressed by the musical score, asked Neil, “How large was the orchestra?”

What Jim didn't know was that Neil had produced most of the score using a digital audio workstation.

Neil spread his arms about a foot apart.

“Oh…about this big.”

Jim got it immediately.

“Ahhh,” he replied with a wink. “Technology!”

That was Jim: extraordinarily accomplished, but also down-to-earth, cordial and a pleasure to have in the studio.

We're especially enjoying these memories now that HarperCollins has given the music another life, releasing the individual songs from both Spin and Puss in Boots a Musical on streaming platforms.

More from the archives to come.

🎵 Puss is out of the bag!

We're delighted to announce that HarperCollins has released the individual songs from Puss in Boots a Musical on streaming platforms.

Our audiobook musical, narrated by Jim Dale with a full cast, received two Society of Voice Arts and Sciences (SOVAS) Awards. Until now, the songs lived within the complete audiobook. Now they can be enjoyed individually on Spotify and other major streaming services.

And Puss is following in some familiar footsteps. A couple of months ago, HarperCollins also released the individual songs from our other Jim Dale audiobook musical, Spin: The Rumpelstiltskin Musical.

Over the next few weeks, we'll share some of our favorite songs from both musicals—and some stories and photos from their creation and recording.
