These are my latest paitings, and the last ones I do in Minnesota. As you can see I am always paiting the colors of Fall that are wonderful in Minnesota. I will mostly miss this beautiful season and certainly not the winter with the 50 shades of gray in Minnesota.

I decided to mount the two paintings I did in summer of the boats in Cinque Terre on one unique background.

Cinque Terre, is a beautiful area on the Italian Riviera. It is called Cinque (Five) Terre for the five villages that it includes: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore. These are colorful fishermen towns with old-world charm. I took many pictures of the Cinque Terre, but the picture I chose to paint into a grouping of 2 painting including 5 boats, was a good representation of the 5 fishermen villages. I grouped the two painting in one background canvas.

Pastel, 16"x20"; Castello Di Amorosa, Napa Valley, CA
Napa Valley in Fall has magnificent landscapes, very similar to Tuscany in Italy. The colors vary from light yellow to dark red. Castello Di Amorosa is a spot you don’t want to miss; the castle is a 30 million dollars Italian Medieval Castle replica that took 15 years to build. It is a combination of a winery, entertainment center, and visitor center. The small chapel in the entrance of the property, surrounded by the vines and the cypress along the road remind me of my wonderful trip to Napa.

Oil 8”x10”, Radicchios in a Yellow bowl, Still Life
On a cold winter day, my artist friend and I decided to paint a still life. She had bought some fresh radicchio from the market and we tried several setting and compositions until we finally decided to use the yellow bowl and just let the radicchio lay on the table. We cut one radicchio in slices to add a touch of white into the image. The red of the radicchio and the green of the leaves are complementary colors and the proximity of the two colors made them more vivid.
