109 years ago today, Lincoln was born.

On August 29, 1917, Henry Leland and his son Wilfred founded the Lincoln Motor Company in Detroit. Before Lincoln became synonymous with American luxury, the company’s earliest work was far different: building Liberty aircraft engines for the First World War.

After the war, Lincoln transitioned to automobiles, and in 1922 the company was purchased by Ford Motor Company.

Just three years later came the car pictured here, our very own 1925 Lincoln Model L Dual Windshield Phaeton.

Its raked windshield, wind wings, three-piece rear windshield, jump seats and rear luggage rack are reminders of an era when buying a luxury automobile often meant pairing an automaker’s chassis and engine with bespoke coachwork from a separate body builder.

More than a century after Lincoln’s founding, this Model L gives us a remarkably tangible look at the company’s earliest years.

History has a way of looking better in person, come see this car before it's gone!

Some cars are restored. Others are reimagined from the ground up.

Our 1933 Stutz Tomcat Roadster, created by Larry Burchett of B Rod or Custom, began as an idea in 2003: build something completely original, blending the elegance of 1930s Art Deco with the attitude of an American hot rod.

The result is a hand-sculpted, full-custom roadster with a 350-ci V8, custom leather and ostrich interior, and a lift-off hardtop.

Only three versions were built, and this one was shown at SEMA twice.

It may carry a 1933 title, but the Tomcat is really a modern interpretation of an era when automobiles were as much sculpture as transportation.

Come take a closer look at one of the most unusual cars inside Vehicle Vault.

This week in 1916, the Fisher brothers consolidated their growing coachbuilding operations into the Fisher Body Corporation, marking a new era for one of America’s most influential automotive names. In the decades that followed, “Body by Fisher” would appear on millions of vehicles and become synonymous with the craftsmanship, engineering, and design of the American automobile.

At Vehicle Vault, our collection spans more than 80 years of Fisher-connected automotive history. From the family’s early influence on Cadillac coachwork to the iconic Camaro, the Pontiac GTO Judge, and the Buick Grand National which carried the Fisher name for the last time.

Come see all of them for yourself this weekend and discover the story behind one of the most recognizable names in American automotive history.

Built at the crossroads of two eras, this 1951 Mercury captures the evolution of American hot-rodding.

This is a genuine Foose design and Boyd Coddington build, powered by a big-block 502 producing 502 horsepower. Lightly chopped and sectioned, it features a classic DeSoto grille, glove-leather interior, and unmistakable custom styling from an era that helped define the modern hot rod.

It’s the kind of car photographs never quite do justice. Come see the Mercury, and the rest of the Vehicle Vault collection, in person this weekend.

Meet Lola. She’s 19 feet long, has 500 horsepower, and she’s anything but subtle.

This one-of-a-kind 1960 Cadillac Coupe De Ville is just one of the stories waiting inside Vehicle Vault.

Before the backpacks come out and the school-year routine begins, squeeze in one more summer adventure with the family. Come wander through automotive history, find your favorite car, and see if the kids can spot all the details that make Lola unlike any Cadillac they’ve seen before.

Summer isn’t over quite yet. Come spend an afternoon at Vehicle Vault. Tickets are available online, click the link in the profile.
