THE BOOK OF GEORGE plays at the Made in Utah: Mid-Length Series September 24th 7pm!

From Brooklyn’s concrete jungle to the heart of the Everglades, Black wildlife
photographer George McKenzie Jr. is transforming his lens into a beacon of
change. Swapping the weight of a gun for the promise of a camera, McKenzie
captures city pigeons and rats as well as elusive panthers. A rare gem in the
predominantly white canvas of wildlife photography, McKenzie is empowering kids
of color to shift their gaze to conservation.

Directed by Danny Schmidt.

After the screenings, stick around for the panel discussion, and then join the filmmakers in the Filmmaker Lounge to mingle and connect. Free admission!

A big thanks to director Kenji Tsukamoto for sharing his brilliant directorial debut "Ashima" with our community last night! Ashima's story of resilience, sacrifice and quiet determination to break barriers in the male-dominated world of climbing is deeply moving and inspiring.

Now the filmmakers are raising funds through Kickstarter to help with the distribution of the film so that it can seen by audiences around the country. More than a decade in the making, "Ashima" has been a labor of love and personal sacrifice, and we hope that you can help support them in this next phase.
