We had a great turnout and even better dialogue at today’s Manufacturing Round Table hosted by the PEDC and Paris Junior College.

Local manufacturers discussed challenges affecting their operations, including tariffs and supply-chain uncertainty. But the message we heard most clearly was the continued need for employees with strong soft skills - communication, reliability, teamwork, problem-solving and professionalism - as much as technical expertise.

Having our education partners at the table was especially valuable, giving them the opportunity to hear directly from employers about workforce needs and how training can better prepare students for successful careers.

Thank you to everyone who shared their perspectives and worked together to strengthen our regional workforce and manufacturing sector. Conversations like this lead to practical solutions.

Regional economic development begins with strong relationships and a shared vision for opportunity.

The Paris Economic Development Corporation was honored to host Chief Gary Batton and representatives of the Choctaw Nation for a joint meeting and community tour. Our discussions focused on regional collaboration, economic development priorities, and opportunities to build partnerships that strengthen communities on both sides of the Red River.

The visit also gave us an opportunity to showcase Paris including our industrial parks and development sites, major employers, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, infrastructure, and historic downtown.

We appreciate Chief Batton and the Choctaw Nation team for investing their time with us, as well as our local elected officials and community leaders who participated in the conversation. Special thanks to Paris resident and Choctaw tribal member Marion Hamill for helping establish the original connection that made this visit possible.

Meaningful economic development does not stop at city, county, or state lines. It moves forward through trust, collaboration, and partnerships. We look forward to continuing this important regional dialogue.

Economic development is a long game. It takes strategy, collaboration, and countless moving parts behind the scenes, often long before a project is announced or a new job is created.

That’s why we value opportunities to connect with our
community and share more about the work happening behind the scenes, the milestones we’re working toward, and the strategies shaping the future of our community. We’re grateful to the Lamar County Federated Republican Women for the invitation and for taking the time to learn more about the work of Paris Economic Development.
