Didn't cover much ground distance but did work a good circuit at Wade Park on the sidewalks. I had decent collision, but luckily it was into my own (Wendell), and he didn't get hurt bad. Only minor scrapes. Daddy bit the concrete though, but still... No. Blood. Shed. Also went off course into the grass and lost it and did a form roll. All in all good day; no strains. Got to share with some of Wendell's friends from his T-Ball team.

Round Two. Walking Track and Pumptrack.
Made a longer run out at the concrete sidewalk trails around the baseball fields. Very nice scenes. Some nice rolling slopes for slow carving. Did a stretch down part of the walking trail that goes down and crosses Paris Creek on an old iron bridge. Then I did throw my weight into the Pumptrack. My aim is to go full disclosure here... The pumptrack didn't go exactly as planned, but the outcome was not unexpected. Honestly, this was my first real attempt. I figured out quickly that I couldn't "just start on the bunny slopes" on the little bumpty bumps, cus you really don't have the momentum to carry you. I was forced to drop in at the top, which I did successfully. The problem is that when you weigh 250 lbs, well you accelerate really fast, and I'm barely getting my feet planted and 1, 2, 3, I'm up and over and thru the bumpity boos, and into the 90 degree turn, and basically I couldn't make the turn like I wanted. It felt like I was on top of the turn like two seconds after dropping in at the start. My line was too high, so needless to say, I went off track. Luckily there were no obstructions... Did catch a small amount of air. I give myself a few points though! After all, they say wiping out is the easy part, right? Not wiping out is harder, especially when you're like out of control... oh well. Are we really ever in control? I started a tradition. Pumptrack behind me, I crawled my sweaty carcass into the truck and fired up a nice cigarillo! Until the next episode...

The journey begins! I switched it up this morning. Realized that there's a skatepark right behind my house! I don't want to reveal the name of the business but it is a "rehabilitation facility for physical problems" and they got a ton of concrete so off I went! Made a couple of successful circuits and did manage to wing it and throw caution to the wind and successfully exited the parking lot at decent speed and crossed the road and onto a 150 yard stretch of backroad asphalt behind the cleaners that is like the backway to Ramseur Baptist Church. And it does have quite a bit of grade on it, so to my surprise I got quite a bit of speed by the time I got to the bottom which opens up to the church parking lot. But, there's a pretty big speed bump at the end and no slot-thru, AND my 'gravel detector' was beeping loudly, so I had a quick decision to make (and I realize I'm not in a great situation because I'm riding surfboard style at this point with my feet sideways...) so, I bailed! Jumped off sideways at 25 mph and landed running! I managed. No wipeout, but man what a run!! Hahaha Even with stock wheels and bearings I was really cooking!

New project of mine. Not going to be some lofty thing, but my idea is this: skateboard as much concrete as possible in my hometown. Log my trails using Google Maps. Just see where it takes me...
