Elizabeth Runyon’s basketry is one of the highlights — and a crowd favorite — of every Creative Harvest, and this year is no different. This piece is called “Pride.” If you haven’t checked out this year’s exhibit, stop by the Hopewell Museum in Paris, Kentucky, soon! Creative Harvest will be on display through Dec. 11.

Here’s what Elizabeth says about her work: “My large sculptural artworks respond to a primary question: What is a basket? Does it have to be useful? Though the works reflect on longstanding basketry traditions through materials and basic weaving, they also expand to embrace wider considerations and influences. Nature, shapes, animals, concepts — all topics to explore.”

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my Eyed Bowl was awarded 2nd Place at the Hopewell Creative Arts Guild's Creative Harvest at the Hopewell Museum. It is a really good display this year and worth a visit. They have new front steps as well.

THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for Sunday’s Creative Harvest opening reception to celebrate an incredible collection of artwork and the 25th anniversary of the exhibit! And thank you to the artists, to all who helped install the exhibit, and to the Hopewell Museum for hosting. The Creative Harvest exhibit will be on display through Dec. 11.

And while we have your attention, we’d also like to celebrate the artists who had our judge’s favorite pieces.

FIRST PLACE: “Oh, the Drama” by Gretchen Grossardt. SECOND PLACE: “Cherry Bowl with Eye” by Thomas Williams. THIRD PLACE: “Some Assembly Required” by Sonja Brooks.

Congratulations to Gretchen, Thomas and Sonja!!! And thanks to Christine Kuhn for judging!

YOU’RE INVITED! Join us at the Hopewell Museum this Sunday (Sept. 20) from 4 to 6 p.m. as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Creative Harvest art exhibit. This year’s reception also doubles as a celebration of the museum’s newly reopened front steps, so we’re making an afternoon of it.

At 4:30 p.m., the Chamber of Commerce will lead a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the occasion. Stick around for the porch party, where you can try the new Hopewell Open Door Punch served in signature cups, and Ethereal Brewing will be onsite pouring b**r and w**e. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served throughout as you tour the exhibit.

Come raise a glass and celebrate this milestone with us. All are welcome!
