Friends and Supporters of Tinsel In The Trees
Check out our photo dump from Tinsel ‘23!
Honestly pictures don’t even begin to provide a sense of how cool and unexpecting Tinsel truly was this year.
As this season of Tinsel In The Trees draws to a close, I am filled with deep gratitude for each of you who have been part of our enchanting journey. Over the past three years, it has been my privilege to spearhead the event, dedicating significant personal resources and time to create a festive wonderland hidden within the trees for our community. Aside from this, the Tinsel team over the last few years have put in thousands of man hours to get it where it’s at today and that team is made up of a very small group of dedicated volunteers.
This year, we took a meaningful step by offering complimentary admission, emphasizing the importance of donations to sustain the event's future. It felt awesome to be able to offer it this way.
This approach, underpinned by my personal commitment and the tireless efforts of our volunteers, was a testament to our dedication to inclusivity and community spirit. However, this model also presents us with substantial financial challenges that we must thoughtfully address.
Reflecting on our attendance, the generosity of your donations contrasted with the essential costs, such as the nearly $500 monthly insurance fee, highlights a crucial aspect of our sustainability. This financial reality is an important consideration for the event's continuation.
Our event has not only charmed our local community but also attracted many visitors from afar, showcasing its wider appeal. However, the reliance on donations and the inherent unpredictability of outdoor events present challenges in planning and advertising. These are factors we must consider in shaping the future of Tinsel In The Trees.
Faced with these considerations, the future of Tinsel In The Trees is currently uncertain.
I am immensely grateful for the joy and community spirit that Tinsel In The Trees has fostered. Your support, passion, and generosity have been the pillars of this endeavor. However, to ensure the event's longevity, a more sustainable model is crucial.
Thank you for your understanding, your generous contributions, and for being part of this magical journey. It has been an exciting to bring Tinsel In The Trees to our community, and I am hopeful that Tinsel can find a way forward.
A decision about the future of the event will be made in early 2024. Should we not proceed, a significant collection of holiday decorations and lights will be available for sale.
P.S. Witnessing the reluctance of children and adults to leave the twinkling lights has been a heartwarming highlight for me. These moments have truly captured the spirit of what we've created together.
