The Paonia Film Festival spotlights community, with an emphasis on small towns and the empowerment of storytellers. We hope to create a quality event that will continue for years. To us, success means honest voices, a wide spectrum of perspectives, impeccable and accessible hosting, and opportunities for filmmakers to learn more. We hope that the folks submitting to Paonia Film festival take the t
ime to highlight their own small towns and communities that have a strong sense of identity. We understand that community can mean many different things in our base of the western United States - a place that has wide open spaces, small rural towns, neighborhoods in cities, reservations, off-grid living, and every iteration of ‘community.’ We want to hear from you all. People have always used storytelling to educate, define, unify, and entertain our communities. The Paradise Theatre wants to hear from you. We empower ourselves and our communities when we tell our own stories. When we listen to people’s stories directly, we gain much more than passing entertainment -- we gain the opportunity to foster relationships; we are opened to different perspectives; we are able to retain and change culture with the guideline of experienced truth; and, most of all, we get the opportunity to understand the hearts and minds of each other. The Paonia Film Festival, hosted by the Paradise Theatre, is looking for short film submissions (25 min max, 10 min max for music videos), starting January 15, 2021 - May 15th for early submissions, and May 16 - June 15, 2021 final deadline, with a theme of ‘community’ in the following categories:
