Garden things.

To date, we have ordered 60 yards of mulch. Basically mulching a lot but eventually there will be so many flowers and cover crops that we will just trim all that down and use it as mulch.

Farmers fit is the best kind of fitness. It’s basically constant. High five to all the gardeners and farmers out there.

Wild blue flax, wallflower, poppies, and more wildflowers to come. The simple sounds of the wind, a kitty’s hello, and wild turkeys are so pleasant.

Pressing tip: wild blue flax is easy to press as long as it goes into the press fairly quickly once picked. If not, the petals can wither. I prefer them when the flower stays in tact with the stem.

Fleabane, sainfoin, dandelion seeds that the finches love to eat, elm, desert madwort, skunk-bush sumac, aka “nature’s sour patch kids”, yellow rose, wild blue flax, cows and calves, field + meadow, yard view from where I want to build an accessory structure, but probably won’t + home view of where the old mulch pile was and where the new mulch to be moved, is.

This is the same size as the original artwork and is hand-embossed.

16 x 20 inch // 41cm x 51cm (open edition), ends May 4th

We began collecting herbs back in 2023 and 3 years later, are very happy to have it out in the world.

Herbs are pretty amazing for so many reasons. They not only taste delicious, but are used for healing as well as a super amazing natural bug repellent for bad insects so they stay out of your flowers and veggies and don’t nest in them.

Love the herbs.

Fun fact: I really liked listening to Enya back in high school. I would listen to her before bed as her music would help me fall sleep. 😴🙂

Throw back Friday. 🙂 It’s sort of fun and fulfilling looking back at your old creative works. Everyone starts somewhere, and that path will eventually lead you to somewhere else. Perhaps it leads you to a new creative endeavor, and sometimes it leads you to continue the path of making mistakes to get better.

Anyways, it’s just fun seeing where you come from. I mean, it holds true for everything. Whether you are a farmer, a video game enthusiast, a florist, a engineer, a waiter, a chef, a mother or father, whatever; it is fun to look back and be proud of your early learnings.

So yeah, who here is pretty darn proud of their early selves?

Farmluxe is being released this week, on the 12th. There is lots to say about it but first, what is Farmluxe? is a farm located on San Juan Island. We were invited out there to stay for 5 days in September 2024 and collect / press as many flowers as our little hearts desired, and we desired quite a bit. The amount of variety was staggering. The farm is one of the most gorgeous flowers farms we have seen and was filled with various technical flowers to press such as the dahlia (these flowers take a long time to press and get the moisture out of correctly).

Anyways I go into the story a bit more in our newsletter which I will be sending out tomorrow or Wednesday. You can join by heading to our bio if you would like.

We named the piece after the farm where all the flowers came from. The theme of the piece was circles and that shape takes precedent through out the piece from top to bottom. We are offering it in 4 sizes with a 16”x24” size as the smallest.
