Nov. 10th 1969 saw the debut of the groundbreaking educational TV show, Sesame Street. This show taught children the importance of reading, how to count and life values. Jim Henson, creator of the muppets, was brought on at the very beginning to create all of the puppets for the show.

As the show continued to grow, it began to address other, more intense issues. In 2006 Sesame Street introduced Abby, a muppet dressed as a fairy meant to provide a strong female role model.

Today, in 1944 President Franklin D. Roosevelt, FDR, was elected to a historic 4th term. Having served as President of the United States during two of the most traumatic events in US history, FDR helped lead the country through the Great Depression and World War II. Unfortunately President Franklin Roosevelt died during his fourth term, only seven months before the end of World War II. FDR is the only president to have served more than two terms in the office.
