Hello Dears,
Todd Summers has just emerged from a meeting with Gunn principal Wendy Stratton with the news that, thanks to so many amazing letters and expressions of passionate urgency, Shakespeare in Performance WILL run next year, with two teachers for two periods, just as it has for the past decades!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your support and letters. Please let's get the great news out to anyone whom you might have asked to write that principal Wendy Stratton has shown herself to be a thoughtful, visionary leader who gets the importance of such a class as Shakespeare in Performance surviving at Gunn, in spite of really grim financial conditions this year. I couldn't be more grateful and relieved hearing these tidings. Good news has been scarce these days, so let's grab this and CELEBRATE!

With much love and gratitude, Jim Shelby

Dear Gunn Thespians:
This summer, a group of Gunn students and alumni—led by Henry Alper (Gunn Theatre Class of 2018)—have created their very own student-led theater company: Pale Fire Theater. The company's inaugural show, Hamlet, opens this Friday 8/9, with subsequent performances on August 16th and 17th. This incredibly hardworking group of students deserve your support; tickets are only $5 each for a night of brilliant student theater. Tickets here:

Dearest Gunn Thespians,

In the beautiful excess of Friday's Senior Projects, Thespian Banquet and general celebration and farewell to our dear and soon departing Gunn Theatre Seniors, I sadly and for no good reason except perhaps early onset dementia neglected to honor and thank AMANDA SANTOS for her great work in Gunn Theatre. Please join me in thanking Amanda for her quiet, excellent and dedicated work on Paint and other tech crews for Music Man, One Acts '17, Servant of Two Masters, King Lear, One Acts '18, Metamorphoses, In the Heights, and One Acts '19. She is a truly wonderful and supportive member of the department whom we will really miss around Gunn Theatre!

I publicly and sincerely apologize for my omission. We love you, Amanda!

With gratitude and affection,
Mr. Shelby
