We strive to maintain historical accuracy, while working with you to create a unique design fashioned especially for you. Our fur trade fashions are hand sewn with waxed sinew and decorated with glass size eight beads sewn directly to the hide (NO Loomwork). We strive to make each fur trade fashion a wearable piece of artwork that with the love and care can last through many generations. Both Stan
and Mel have been involved in the historical re-enacting sport of muzzle loading for years. Mel grew up within this historical community as her father was one of the founding members of the Nebraska Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. Her mother was from the Omaha Reservation in Nebraska and of Cherokee, Winnebago and Omaha descent. She learned her craft techniques within her muzzle loading family. Mel went on to study Anthropology and Great Plains history at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Nebraska. Stan also grew up muzzle loading on his family homestead in Nebraska. He has hunted the woods along their creek in primitive gear most of his life. Stan is an accomplished gunsmith and knowledgeable in the practical use of traditional muzzle loading gear. We have both built many historically accurate, traditionally beaded buckskin outfits and accessories over the years for ourselves, family and friends. Our buckskin creations have been worn by many for re-enactments, rendezvous, Native gatherings, Pow Wows and ceremonies. With the increasing requests for our craft, we decided to offer our assistance to those friends we have yet to meet. We will be your guide through the pre-1840 Fur Trade Era, while working with you from a description or photo to create the fur trade fashion of your dreams. It is our dream to be the ones to craft that fur trade fashion, a wearable piece of artwork that will be passed on through your generations.
