Hello Dutchman Bowlers! I am so SORRY that I have been non responsive to many of you regarding 2024. It has been an interesting fall season at the bowling center. The good news is that I have hired three new staff members for the bowling center and the tournament. After training, it should allow me to much more responsive to your needs. I apologize for any inconvience it caused this year. All the forms and schedule are online. I will be emailing confirmations today. We will be mailing one hard copy to all group leaders next week. If you need more forms or anything, please email at [email protected]. I am not in the office on a regular basis this time of year. I also use a lot of my vacation time during the winter months, so I can be present during the 22 weeks of tournament.

I hope you are having a happy Holiday season. My parents bought Palmyra Bowling in 1981. In 1983 they became silent partners in the Dutchman Tournament, with Gene Espenshade. Seven + years ago, I took over as owner/manager of the Dutchman Tourn. Growing the tournament from 900 teams to over 1,200 teams. It is a pleasure and honor to work with so many wonderful group leaders. As hard as my job is to coordinate all the details, I know that the group leaders face similar challenges in coordinating their groups. I am very sorry that the 2023 information is so late.

Generally, I would have the information out in Oct/Nov for the following year. This year has presented many struggles. The final blow was Dec 2, 2022, when my father passed away unexpectedly. Many of you know Sue, my mom, as the lady who checks you in at Palmyra. To say that this has hit our family hard is an understatement. While dad had not been working in the business for years, as he was fully retired, he was the financial wizard behind the operations.

It’s been a year since I started overseeing all operations in the corporation, while still being the Tournament Manager. We have a diverse and growing staff that have continued to amaze me, but also needing extra oversight. While I try to juggle all the jobs, after prize checks go out, the tournament is put on hold. I start fall/winter leagues. Then I take some time off. The holiday season rolls around, and I help with parties and events in the center. Then in January I return to mostly working on tournament work.

I managed to get the confirmation of reservation letters printed in mid-December. But with family in and out of town, holiday events at the center and other obligations the letters have not been sent yet. Sue is currently stuffing the envelopes with the entry forms and letters. I am sending the same information in electronic format since the USPS is behind.

I have the schedule online. If you would like to reserve or need to change your reserved dates, send me an email.

I hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season and if you need anything, email is the best way to reach me.

Thanks and looking forward to seeing you in 2023!

Hello Dutchman Bowlers! The 74th annual tournament is complete. The prize list is completed and mailed. I am so greatful to have the staff I do! The official standing have been posted and the prize checks are in the mail to the group leaders. This year we had 1,137 teams and 3,178 pairs of doubles. We gave out over $452,000 in prize money.

There are few questions we get each year:

I was in three divisions, in one event, on the unofficial standings. I only see my name in one division on the final standings?

You can win one prize in each event. There are six events: Singles, Doubles, Optional Singles Doubles, Bolony Bank, Team and Optional Team Singles. Each event has multiple divisions: handicap, scratch, ladies, seniors hdcp, senior scratch, senior ladies, team 825, etc. The program calculates the division that you would win the highest amount of prize money and that is where you are placed.

My group leader doesn't have my check!? You probably bowled with another group. Check with the other group leader. Checks are sent the the group leader with the lowest entry number in our system.

We thank all the bowlers who participated this year and we look forward to seeing you in 2023, which will be a grand celebration of 75 years!

Hello Dutchman Bowlers!

Tuesday the USBC announced a ban on 6 bowling balls for the national USBC tournaments. These balls are considered legal in any other competition. The Dutchman Tournament WILL ALLOW THESE BALLS TO BE USED THE REST OF THE TOURNAMENT. In fact, our raffle ball is the Wolverine!

I've considered sending the Global 900 Wolverines back and getting another ball, but the Wolverine is still considered legal and a highly sought after ball. What do you all think? Should I continue to use them as the ball we raffle?

The affected models include:
Storm Phaze 4
Storm Electrify Solid
Storm Trend 2
